First Impressions
The Hellcat ZT is built using metal injection moulding, MIM, from 303 stainless steel. This is a process that allows for extremely precise shaping and contributes to a soft, premium feel. I thought the finish looked clean and minimalist, and the classic blade silhouette should appeal to traditionalists, even as the tech under the hood veers to a more modern approach.
What sets the Hellcat ZT apart, I think, is the Zero Torque ZT hosel, an S-neck design that cleverly routes the shaft through the heel while pointing it at the center of gravity. This creates a face-balanced putter that resists rotation through the stroke. I admit the concept might look unusual at first glance, but its impact on face stability is impressive. On long putts especially, it excelled. I often found what I aimed is what I hit.

The forward-press shaft angle is a subtle but welcome feature. With a natural one-degree forward lean, it encourages proper hand positioning and improves roll off the face. PXG’s familiar pyramid face pattern has also been added, which aides sound, feel, and friction at impact. The result is a roll that gets up and going quickly and consistently.
The feel is crisp yet soft, with acoustic feedback that’s satisfying without being too loud. In short, it feels like a premium putter should.

It’s hard to fault the Hellcat ZT on performance. If I do have a slight gripe, it’s the grip. The stock grip is square-shaped, clearly designed to promote face awareness and alignment, but it may feel oversized or boxy for some. Fortunately, PXG offers customisation, and a more traditional pistol grip can be selected without upsetting the performance balance too drastically.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the PXG Hellcat ZT putter is a standout option for players who love the look of a blade but crave the stability of a mallet. With its forward press, zero torque hosel, and signature face tech, it’s engineered to help golfers start putts on line with greater consistency.
