The Scotty Cameron Phantom mallet family has been a staple on professional tours for years, but the 2026 Phantom line-up has introduced some new updates. These changes make the new Phantom range suitable for the widest range of golfers yet.
Rather than reinventing the Phantom putters, Scotty Cameron has instead focused on improving their feel and performance.
To understand this better, here’s a closer look at what lays under the hood of these new Scotty Camerons…
Scotty Cameron 2026 Phantom Mallet Putters: The Technology
Every 2026 Phantom mallet is equipped with a full-face Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert. Scotty Cameron has opted to go with to help improve the feel and sound without compromising too much on the rest of the performance.
Carbon steel has a greater natural damping capacity than materials such as stainless steel or aluminium. As such it allows a softer sound by reducing the duration of the impact tone.

The insert is paired with chain-link face milling. This further softens the sound by having a reduced number of contact points between the putter face and the golf ball.
This further softens sound while preserving the feedback and ball speed on both short and long range putts.
The putters now feature deeper faces and modified crowns, with increased face height at the centre and an increased radius on the top line.
While heel and toe heights remain unchanged, Scotty Cameron believes the added centre height improves how the putter frames the ball. It is also said to help players return the face more consistently at impact.
The soles have also been redesigned to be flatter and to provide more surface area. This change helps the putter sit more squarely even on more challenging putting surfaces.

It also aids in reducing unwanted movement at address. Feedback from tour players, including Justin Thomas, played a key role in creating the new sole as they prefer something that offers a more repeatable setup.
