While the TP5 range has long been one of the marquee golf ball options in the game, both on the professional tours and amongst amateurs, TaylorMade believe they have made some improvements.
These latest offerings focus on an aspect of performance that has previously been overlooked, which is greater consistency. Whether it is from ball-to-ball or shot-to-shot, TaylorMade are under the impression the new TPs will deliver.
The brand believes the result is their most consistent tour golf ball line-up to date. Here’s all the new technology that goes into making them as such…
TaylorMade TP5 and TP5x 2026 Golf Balls: The Technology
So what is new for 2026? Well, both the TP5 and the TP5x feature TaylorMade’s new microcoating technology. The idea with this is to ensure a thinner and more even layer of paint across the entire surface of the ball.
This process has been introduced to help eradicate any inconsistencies in the covering of the balls that can have an impact on the ball flight.
TaylorMade has introduced this as their team discovered that traditional paint processes can cause excess paint to settle in the bottom of the dimples.

In some ways this is helping to solve the invisible problem most of us would never even considered.
Elsewhere, the TP5s have been equipped with TaylorMade’s largest Tour core, which reduces contact time with the clubface at impact. This shorter contact time improves energy retention and produces faster ball speeds on full swings.
Additionally, they have also been equipped with an updated Tour Flight Dimple Pattern. This creates a more penetrating ball flight.
The TP5x, on the other hand, generates its quick speeds from new mantle layer materials. These have been engineered to produce higher ball speeds, particularly with longer clubs.
