Volvik has always been a brand that dares to be different. From its brightly coloured golf balls to bold designs, the company has never been afraid to push boundaries. The Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 continues that theme with a distinctive 360-degree coloured stripe intended to help with alignment. But style only matters if it is backed up by performance, so does it deliver? Find out in our full Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 golf ball review…

Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 Golf Balls Review: NCG Summary

Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 Golf Balls

NCG SUMMARY

The Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 is a three-piece ionomer-covered golf ball that delivers bold visuals and consistent performance at a very reasonable price. While it does not quite match the spin of premium urethane models, it offers a strong balance of durability, distance, and control, along with a distinctive alignment aid that could genuinely benefit many golfers.

PROS

  • Coloured alignment stripe is genuinely helpful
  • Consistent spin and reliable distances
  • A golf ball with character – not often one can say that

CONS

  • Ionomer cover cannot quite match the feel and spin of premium urethane models
  • Volvik 2024 New Vista 3 Prisim Dozen (12 Balls), Premium Tour Series High Velocity Distance Balls, White

First Impressions

Volvik has built a reputation for producing colourful and distinctive golf balls. I’m please to say the Vista 3 Prism 360 certainly continues that tradition. The ball features a full 360-degree coloured stripe that wraps around its surface, designed to act as an alignment aid on both putts and tee shots. Some players will appreciate the assistance and the unique appearance, while others may find the multi-coloured stripe a little too bold. Nevertheless, it immediately stands out as a ball with a clear identity.

NCG Review

The Vista 3 Prism 360 is built with three layers. Its nano-bi core is designed to promote high ball speeds and long distances. Surrounding the core is a soft mantle layer that enhances feel and provides additional spin. The cover is made from ionomer, which makes the ball more durable and affordable. Although, slightly firmer than the urethane covers found on premium balls. Despite this, the Vista performed well during my testing and offered respectable spin levels compared to similar options in its category.

Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 Golf Balls

When I tested it with wedge and iron shots, I found this golf ball produced surprisingly strong snippets of data. The ball launched at 29.6 degrees with a spin rate of 6,700 rpm, which is impressive for a non-urethane model. I’ve found premium urethane balls often generate spin between 8,000 and 10,000 rpm, so the Vista’s figures sit just below but still offer golfers plenty of control into the greens. With a 7-iron, the ball carried 156 yards with a ball speed of 112 mph, which is both consistent and reliable.

Off the driver, the ball again showed steady performance. My average ball speed was 152 mph, and the spin rate came in at 2,340 rpm, which is almost ideal for many players. The ball carried 262 yards on average and rolled out to 284 yards, even when including a couple of slight mishits. While it may not be the absolute longest ball on the market, it demonstrated a consistency that golfers will value when finding fairways and keeping their dispersion tight.

As a PGA coach, the main reason I like this golf ball for many of my clients is the alignment line. Golfers being able to line this golf ball up on the green, I think is invaluable. Anytime golfers are helped with alignment is a big plus as we all know the struggles a golfer can have on the greens. However, I’m not fully convinced on the multi colour stripes. One solid strip who have been substantial, but that just may be me being a slight bore.

NCG Verdict

Overall, I didn’t get the sense that the Volvik Vista 3 Prism 360 golf ball tries to compete directly with premium urethane balls, and that is to its credit.

Instead, it focuses on delivering consistent spin, reliable distance, and strong control for a much more accessible price.

The coloured stripe design will divide opinion, but its usefulness as an alignment tool cannot be ignored.

Golfers who want a ball that is durable, eye-catching, and highly dependable without the premium price tag will find the Vista 3 Prism 360 an excellent option. Typical Volvik flare…

About the author

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
