NCG SUMMARY
The Takomo Ignis D1 driver is a brilliant first effort from this Finnish company. It delivers forgiveness, consistent performance, and excellent value. It is also significantly cheaper than offerings from Callaway, TaylorMade, or Titleist, yet it comes with premium stock components. The only real drawback is that it does not quite match the very top-performing drivers for distance. But for the price, it isn’t designed to.

First Impressions
Takomo’s irons have already built a reputation amongst both everyday golfers and online influencers, and their wedges have also impressed. Drivers, however, are notoriously difficult and expensive to design. With the Ignis D1, Takomo have clearly invested in making a product that stands up in looks and performance.
At address, I thought the driver has a sleek matte black crown with subtle carbon detailing, which gives it a clean, modern appearance. I like how it looked confidence-inspiring behind the ball and avoids the cheap feel that can sometimes come with direct-to-consumer clubs.
NCG Review
During my testing, the Ignis D1 produced an average ball speed of 155.6mph, which is slightly down compared to my speed which is around 160mph from a TaylorMade driver. Despite this, I thought the performance was extremely consistent, with my spin rates averaging 2600rpm and carry distances of 260 yards. This lead to total distances of 277–278 yards. These are highly respectable numbers, especially considering the lower price point.
Although the driver still felt satisfying and lively, it did feel a little tinny and light at impact. This is compared to the more muted sound of a carbon-faced driver. The titanium face offered a strong strike sensation, and I found the club to be easy to work both ways, with draws being particularly particularly easy to produce.
The Ignis D1 looks excellent behind the ball, with its matte black finish and carbon weave details providing a modern, confidence-inspiring appearance. The inclusion of the Lamkin grip and premium shaft contributes to a driver that feels far more expensive than its price tag would suggest. While the sound is slightly more metallic than the latest carbon-faced competitors, it is still very pleasant and should appeal to most golfers.

In terms of technology, the Ignis D1 includes a variable thickness face for consistent ball speeds, a low centre of gravity for forgiveness and launch, and three moveable weight ports that allow golfers to set up for draw bias, fade bias, or maximum forgiveness. The adjustable hosel offers ±2° of loft tuning, giving golfers plenty of flexibility.
The inclusion of a Ventus Blue or Red shaft as standard is a huge bonus, as these are usually expensive aftermarket upgrades. A Lamkin grip and premium headcover further elevate the overall package.
Overall, I think the Takomo Ignis D1 is a highly impressive first entry into the driver market. It may not be the longest driver available, but it delivers forgiveness, consistency, and excellent value. For golfers looking for a new driver that feels premium but costs significantly less than the big-brand options, the Ignis D1 is a fantastic choice.
