Our Puma Ignite Pwradapt review took place on the course at Alwoodley in Leeds.
They were worn for 18 holes of golf in fairly damp and slippery conditions in February.
Puma Ignite Pwradapt Review – First impressions
We were big fans of the Puma Ignite Sport Spikeless which were released last year.
They were super lightweight and incredibly comfortable. But for me, a player looking for a bit more stability, they weren’t ideal.
I know plenty of golfers who loved them but they weren’t for me. Well not on the golf course at least, I was more then happy wearing them as a pair of trainers.
So the introduction of the Puma Ignite Pwradapt was music to my ears as it looked like they have retained the superb comfort from the Ignite Sport but with added traction and waterproofing.
There’s actually three versions with a Leather and a Disc model also available.
And they all look really cool too. A heck of a lot more stylish than your average pair of golf shoes.
Oh, and there’s no upcharge for the Disc model which is a nice surprise. Most brands add £15-£20 when adding BOA lacing.
Puma Ignite Pwradapt Review – The technology
So Puma have improved the traction by adding a new system which is designed to work on any lie.
The outsole features three dimensional traction pods which add versatility when out on the golf course.
There’s also what Puma call Ignite foam for cushioning and comfort.
And your foot goes into more of a sock which replaces the traditional tongue for a nice snug fit.
Also wrapping around the foot is something Puma called a Pwrframe construction which adds some stability to the upper of the shoe.
Puma Ignite Pwradapt Review – The results
When you put these on for the first time they feel like a pair of slippers.
So light and soft with a bouncy cushioning from the sole.

But it seems like there is no compromise from a traction and stability point of view.
Ok, they aren’t quite as stable in the upper as some shoes we have tested so far this year but they are as good as you’ll get for a lightweight, trainer-style golf shoe.
It’s another bonus that these are waterproof and come with a two-year guarantee as, again, that’s not what you’d expect from a shoe so light and comfortable.
The only slight downside is that you can see the water on the material once they do get wet. But it dries out soon after you’ve finished.
Puma Ignite Pwradapt Review – NCG verdict
Despite the added traction and waterproofing, these still seem to me like a pair of golf shoes I want to be wearing through the summer, rather than the winter.
I think it’s because they look so great and I don’t want to get them that dirty.
Also, they don’t clean quite as well as traditional leather shoes.
But in fairness you can’t say that these golf shoes won’t do a great job all year round as they perform really well in wet and slippery conditions.
These are definitely one of the best pairs of golf shoes I have tested over the last few years as it seems Puma have really nailed the combination of traction and comfort.
The Puma Ignite Pwradapt are the sort of shoes people will notice and comment on when you walk to the 1st tee as they certainly catch the eye.
Some people may not want to stand out for the clothes and shoes they are wearing but I’m not too sure those golfers are Puma’s target audience…
