Tour Edge Exotics Max Irons Review: NCG Summary

NCG SUMMARY
The Tour Edge Exotics Max irons deliver exceptional distance, impressive forgiveness, and a surprisingly playable flight. Oh and you get all that at a price that significantly undercuts the major brands.
The distances just feel effortlessly long and consistent. We see no reason not to state these irons as one of the best-value game-improvement options available right now.
PROS
- Exceptional distances
- Impressive forgiveness
- They sound good, for a game-improvement iron
- Very good value for money
CONS
- The sole design is somewhat unconventional and won’t appeal to everyone
First Impressions
From my first glance, it was obvious the Tour Edge Exotics Max irons are unapologetically built for distance. That was clear the moment I set them down. The heads are large, confidence-building, and packed with visible tech. The combination of carbon detailing, silver and black finishes, and a clean badge gives them a modern aesthetic without feeling over-styled.

Although it would be disingenuous of me not the mention the sole design, which is… divisive, at best. Some players will welcome its distinctive shaping, whilst others may find it a little busy. At address, to me the strong lofts make the club appear powerful. I found that whilst you can just about see the back of the seven iron at address, the overall look remains player-friendly for the category.
NCG Verdict
Distance is undoubtedly the star of this iron’s performance. During testing, I found the Exotics Max irons produced ball speeds and carries that were far beyond the expected numbers for a seven iron. My average ball speed of 122 mph and best ball speed of 125.3 mph meant I was able to reach an average carry of 169 yards, with my longest shot reaching 180 yards and ran out to 195 yards total. These results are roughly 20 yards longer than what I would get from a traditional seven iron, which is a remarkable leap.

Despite their aggressively strong lofts—the five iron sits at 21°—the irons still produced a healthy, playable launch. The low centre of gravity helps lift the ball into the air, even with reduced spin. While spin numbers were lower than what I would get from a players’ iron, the peak height remained high enough to stop the ball effectively on the greens.

Perhaps most importantly of all, you’ll be pleased to hear that forgiveness is excellent throughout the whole set. Thanks to the stable head design and variable-thickness face, the irons maintain ball speed even when you don’t quite find the centre of the club face. Mishits produce more consistent carries and smaller distance losses compared to more compact irons.
In terms of technology, it’s what you’d expect. The hitting zone has been enlarged through a variable-thickness face to preserve ball speeds on mishits. This isn’t revolutionary by any means but is an essential benefit for most club golfers, without meaning to sound so rude.

They are also equipped with something called a VIBRCOR TPU Insert and a Carbon Badge. Essentially a TPU insert works together with a carbon fibre badge to dampen excessive vibration while maintaining a responsive feel.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Tour Edge Exotics Max irons are a superb choice for golfers who want more distance and forgiveness without forking out the big bucks. They are powerful, consistent, and outstandingly priced. If you are looking to upgrade your iron performance on a sensible budget, I think these irons are almost impossible to overlook.
