Craving comfort and style in one jacket? Mike Robertson has put the Peter Millar Hyperlight Fuse Hybrid Gilet to the test

I’m a big fan of Peter Millar apparel, so couldn’t wait to see how their Hyperlight Fuse Hybrid gilet performed on the course, especially now the colder weather is here.

The Hyperlight Fuse gilet is new for Autumn/Winter, and although not designed for maximum warmth, it is perfect for layering and looks very cool.

My first impression of the Hyperlight Fuse gilet was that it was very lightweight and I couldn’t imagine it being warm enough for the winter months. However, it looks very stylish and has the quality touches that are synonymous with Peter Millar. The colour scheme is quite bright, which I quite like, and the fit is modern, so you will look the part while playing.

It was a colder day, so I layered the vest over a base layer and another Peter Millar sweater. It was still very easy to swing a club despite the layers. I instantly liked how stretchy the fabric was; I didn’t feel restricted at all. The pockets came in handy for tees, ball markers and a pair of hand warmers.
I really liked the subtle camo in the colourway and my playing partners actually commented that the gilet was very smart – something they wouldn’t usually do!
The course I play at is windy and I noticed that the gilet provided good resistance to the elements during the round.

As you would expect from Peter Millar, all the little details are done well. The additional zip chest pocket is probably more for the style than substance but looks very smart. I’m not a huge fan of big logos, so I appreciated this jacket’s subtlety.
This is definitely a great addition to my golf wardrobe. I like the fact that it is very light, so can easily be put in your bag to take off and on as the weather changes.
I could see myself using the Peter Millar Golf gilet off the course, particularly thrown under a coat on a very cold day. It has very subtle branding, so it doesn’t give it away as strictly a golf product, something I really value.
