First Impressions
The Merge Elite Hybrid jacket has a very smart look to it while also being incredibly comfortable and lightweight. The colour scheme is very clean, and the fit is modern and stylish. As with all Peter Millar clothing, there is a luxurious feel to the finish. I’ve not always found it easy to swing in a jacket, so I was looking forward to taking it onto the course.
On Course Testing
I am 6ft 2, and usually wear a medium or large depending on the fit. I found the large size fitted very nicely, especially as I had a couple of layers underneath. The thing I instantly liked about this was how stretchy the fabric was; I didn’t feel restricted at all.
It was also warmer than I anticipated, despite being quite a lightweight jacket, so it was ideal for chilly days out on the course. You also don’t need to worry about wind or the odd bit of rain, as the jacket is both wind and water-resistant.
The front zip pockets were very handy and the zips meant you could easily store tees or a ball marker and nothing would fall out. The mock-neck was also useful as it was a cold day, so I could zip up to the top for extra warmth.
As you would expect from Peter Millar, all the little details are done well. The additional chest pocket is probably more for style than substance, but looks very smart. I’m not a huge fan of big logos, so appreciated the subtlety on this jacket.
The 19th hole
The jacket could easily be used off the course as well, as there are no big logos or anything that gives it away as just a golf jacket. You could easily pop it on under another coat on a very cold day.
