Patrick Reed has been a free agent since his deal with Callaway ended in 2017. In that time we’ve seen him have numerous brands in his bag and be very adamant he doesn’t want to sign a full bag deal again. The change proved to be successful as he claimed his first major with a wide range of equipment in his bag at the 2018 Masters.
Reed’s setup has been fairly consistent for the last year until he turned up at the Hero World Challenge with a full new set of prototype irons. It is not the first time he has used bespoke clubs he already has a 51-degree artisan wedge in his bag.

So what are Patrick Reed’s new clubs?

The bad news? The custom-made irons are from a currently unknown brand. However, they have recently appeared on the USGA conforming club database listed as “Emery JPN Co”. No brand name or any other information is mentioned.
This is the first time Reed’s had the clubs in play on tour, but he has had plenty of time to adjust to the new set, with which he has been practising for the last month. The set have Reed’s name and his foundation logo stamped on the back but no other branding.
It is quite common to see players testing clubs at Tiger’s event as the no cut rule means they get four days to see how the new gear performs out on the course in a competitive environment.
Reed was staying tight-lipped about the whole thing only letting on that he had been helping design the clubs for more than a year.
It is believed the clubs will eventually be released to the public but without Reed’s stamping. More information about the mystery clubs will be revealed on January 1, so keep your eyes peeled on this very column…
