The best of the best! We roundup the Best winter golf jumpers 2025.
There are very few days over across the year when a jumper isn’t a must-have to play golf, never mind in the winter months. Staying warm out on the golf course is one of the big challenges at this time of year.
But for me, a good golf jumper is so much more. I for one have a wardrobe filled with different golf jumpers to the point I barely wear any ‘normal’ jumper. It shows the evolution golf clothing has undergone to be worn away from the golf course as easily as on it.
In this guide, we take a look at some of the best winter golf jumpers for 2025. From zip ups, to hoodies to crewnecks, the NCG team has reviewed the lot to give you a comprehensive breakdown. No matter your golf style there is something for everyone…
In the days where the golfing midlayer is everywhere it’s nice to see this knitted garment from Lyle & Scott. It is constructed from a merino wool/acrylic blend. The former offers warmth and breathability, and the latter provides durability and resistance to stretching.
There is a quarter-zip, ribbed collar and ribbed trims at the cuffs and hem. It comes in no less than six different colours so you are sure to find a shade to suit.
On the course it offers a refreshingly different and stylish look to a midlayer and it provides reasonable insulation. I don’t think it is a garment for the coldest days on the links. It just about fits true to size. If you are between sizes, then I’d recommend going up. There is a single contrasting Eagle motif on the left chest which makes it suitable for casual wear as well.
Because of the wool element in this jumper, it will require a bit more care than a standard midlayer so do bear that in mind. The RRP is under £100 and there’s currently 40% off so bag yourself a bargain!
PROS
Excellent range of colours.
2 Stylish alternative to a midlayer.
3 Good layering piece.

Garment needs care

Quarter Zips. Probably the one piece of clothing that is synonymous with golf the most. I must admit I sit a bit on the fence when it comes to quarter zips. At times I really like them, and then there’s other times where they just don’t do anything for me. I’m not sure if it’s the colour or the general styling but this golf course midlayer definitely falls into the former category. It looks modern, feels sporty but is also notably traditional and ‘golfy’. That is the perfect mix for me when it comes to golf clothes.
It is extremely breathable with the stretch fabric delivering unrestricted movement for a more free swing. With the bad weather set to be in for the foreseeable, it’s weather-resistant qualities, especially against light rain and wind is very useful.
The Puma Boulder 2.0 Crewneck is one of my favourite pieces of clothing this Autumn and Winter. It is so comfortable to begin with, and that is one of the most important features of golf clothing. It needs to be comfortable, and although this product would probably be no good in the rain due to the fabric, it will keep you warm and can be accompanied by a larger jacket.
The style of the top is good. It has a textured double-knit jacquard finish, and you will appreciate this feel as soon as you slip into it. Puma has mastered the crewneck with this item, and it should prove to be popular. £55.00 is very reasonably priced too, in a market where clothing can reach astronomic heights in terms of price.
I really liked the colour scheme of this Puma Cloudspun Tech Hybrid Golf Quarter-Zip. The cross between light blur and navy blue is really pleasing to look at and even better to wear. Puma has absolutely nailed it in this regard, and this will prove a staple of my wardrobe in the coming months. It won’t keep you that dry in the harshest conditions, but I don’t think that it is meant to. It guarantees style with some substance and warmth.
The padded style around the breast area felt a little tight when I first put it on, but this was a small inconvenience, and it didn’t restrict my swing or take away from my performance. This is a really solid bit of kit and I am a sucker for a smart quarter-zip. If you are too, then this is exactly what you should be looking for.
PROS
Great split of navy and light blue
Comfortable

CONS
The feel around the breast area was a bit tight when first putting it on
I think this might be my favourite midlayer of the year. Having never worn Sunderland apparel before I was pleasantly surprised and am now a Sunderland convert!
For me, apparel is more about fit and feel than jazzy designs and big logoes. Bascically, if it fits (especially with trousers), I am a fan! This midlayer was true to size and so no need to size up or down.
That being said, this Colorado midlayer provides you with more than just a good fit. It provides good warmth, yet is lightweight, and does not restrict when swinging the golf club. There is a draw cord at the bottom if you wished to adjust the fit.
All in all, a great midlayer that comes highly recommend.
PROS
Lightweight
Provides good warmth
No restriction in the swing

With the vast majority of second (or mid) layers appearing in half-zip and synthetic fibre construction, it is refreshing to see a slightly different, dare I say old-fashioned, look from Glenmuir with the Dalry, a lightweight crew neck jumper, constructed from 100% combed cotton.
It comes in a choice of three different colours. All of them look pretty stylish, with a handsome birdseye pattern on the front, with contrasting detail on the crew neck and cuffs.
I have worn it just as a second layer, over a polo. It is comfortable and offers a different look from most mid- layers. It doesn’t have the strongest thermal properties, so may lack the flexibility of use in our variable UK climate. But I think it makes a stylish addition to your golfing wardrobe for the warmer months.
Golf hoodies are here to stay. Having now tried a few, I do see the benefit beyond purely the fashion statement. Ping’s Nexa hooded half-zip fleece is one of their offerings in this genre.
As with much golf apparel a lot of thought has gone into its design. It is bright and attractive without being garish. The material is soft and stretchy and being fleece lined is wonderfully warm.
The fleece extends into the hood, so it becomes a genuinely helpful addition in keeping you warm instead of being just a fashion statement.
PROS
Warm
Good amount of stretch
Hood is lined

Adidas has released some excellent golf jumpers, jackets and midlayers this year. This Beyond The Course Hybrid Sweater is certianly one of the best. I love the pure teal colour and the fact is sort of has a retro football jacket style to it. You know the old training, zipless ones the likes of Rooney and Ronaldinho used to wear. The design really is one of my favourites from any brand this year and I’d definitely wear this away from the course, to a football match or down the shops. It looks mega.
As far as performance goes. The fit is ideal and with the cuffed sleeves, it doesn’t get in the way of gripping the golf club. A real five out of five golf jumper this.
I am extremely happy that I was chosen to review this item of clothing because it is the exact sort of thing I both want and need.
The Cloud 2.0 quarter zip is a very classic understated ¼ zip jumper that can be worn with almost anything during the winter.
The fabric is very soft and warm which is 50% of the way there, and on top of that it also looks great which gets you 100% of the way there to being an item of clothing I will wear constantly for at least the next year.
I am a big fan of the grey colour as it can combo nicely with several different trousers. If you’re as much of a fan of this style of jumper then I would highly recommend this jumper.

A true measure of a pullover for me is how inclined I’d be to wear it away from the course as well as on it. Original Penguin are masters of cross-purposing, and the Quarter Zip Pullover does the job in fine style. It’s true to size for me – and I prefer a slimmer fit – but the polyester/elastane mix means the pullover stretches and moves with you. That’s perfect for the golf swing. It works really well as it slides, rather than resisting, as you move from backswing to downswing. The Nanotex Aquapel technology repels water-based spills, whether you find yourself in a slight shower or if you spill your drink in the bar afterwards. My only small fear is the fabric, particularly from the chest down, feels like it may be vulnerable to clicks and bobbles with prolonged wear.
PROS
Stylish design and great fit
Very lightweight – comfortable whether it’s outerwear or part of layering
Water spill technology is an interesting addition
CONS
Material feels like it is vulnerable to clicks and bobbles
Callaway Golf Mens Soft Touch Blocked Golf Midlayer
I love these ¼ zip base layers. They are so versatile, either for layering up or using as a top in cooler summer evenings. The Callaway soft touch blocked base layer ticks all the boxes and then some. It looks great but what was particularly appealing was the softness of it. Exquisitely comfortable and warm. In addition it incorporates Callaway’s Opti Dri technology to help wick away moisture.
Stuburt have released their Crane pullover as part of their 2025 Autumn / Winter collection. Quite possibly my favourite item of those I have tested coming into the off-season. Available in six different colourways from the Stuburt website, and for only £40 I think this is an awesome garment for the value. A smart design, only a small logo on the arm to compliment a clean look for the pullover making it ideal for both on and off the golf course. The material is extremely comfortable, and breathable but also feels very durable due to the thickness of it. This is something I’ll be getting plenty of use out of in the coming months. A great addition for anybody looking to add to their wardrobe, comfortable, stylish and great for a cooler day on the golf course.
Although Ted Baker closed all their UK stores in August 2024, it is good to see that they are still bringing new products to market. Not best known for golf products, they have really hit the mark with this Half Zip Midlayer.
Available in Navy Blue or Grey, the top fits really well, providing warmth and the stretch fabric allows movement to enable a comfortable swing.
There is a very useful chest pocket that is ideal for a scorecard and the elasticated cuffs prevent the sleeves from riding up through your swing.
I loved the print detailing around the zip / collar, along with the subtle branding on the chest. All of this makes this a top a great option for those needing a quality midlayer.
Under Armour continue their impressive collection of golf clothing with this classic midlayer.
Available in 5 colours, this top gives fantastic adaptability to go with all your outfits. From light blue through to black, there is something for everyone. As soon as you put it on you notice the soft feel and warmth that it offers. In addition, the stretch material allows for easy swings without any restriction of movement, providing effortless comfort.
The quarter zip makes it easy to get on and off and the high neck zip provides additional protection from the elements. The central Under Armour loging is very subtle but blends into the midlayer perfectly.
At a competitive price point, this offers great value and flexibility.

uarter zip or crew-neck jumper – it is always a decision to make during winter golf. If you’re opting for a jumper, then the Under Armour Driver Mid layer Crew is a very solid option.
The mixture of polyester, nylon and elastane gives this crew neck jumper a comfortable feel, while it is also moisture wicking and dries quickly, perfect for those days where there are showers around.
It comes in a number of colourways, including black, grey and blue to provide a range of choice, and at just £65, it is well priced compared to the other major brand with similar products.
Extra warmth, a nice and basic design, and freedom of movement make this jumper a must buy for winter.
you are looking for a new pullover then Under Armour may have one for you. The UA Drive Mid layer Pullover offers a comfortable feel while keeping you warm and dry. The mixture of polyester, nylon and elastane is also moisture wicking and dries quickly, perfect for those days where there are showers around.
However, that mixture does mean it is a thick piece of clothing, and one where you might not bring it out of the wardrobe for the summer months.
It comes in four different colourways, all of which are muted but nice, with black, grey and navy all available.
At £65, like the UA Driver Mid layer Crew, Under Armour have provided a great option to add to your wardrobe.
Oscar Jacobson have released the Rumsey quarter zip sweater as part of their autumn / winter range this year. A heavier item than a classic all year round quarter zip making it a really good option for those colder days on the course.
The Rumsey is designed with extra fine Merino wool blend and ribbed T-neck collar, cuffs and hem to provide extra comfort and protection from the wind. The lining of the garment is also built with a stretch material to enhance the movement potential when you’re playing. Initially I thought I may be restricted when swinging the club due to it being heavier, however this wasn’t the case at all.
My only criticism of the garment is it fits slightly short across the belt-line. This could well be a personal preference as I do prefer my upper garments to sit slightly longer so it doesn’t rise up when I am swinging the club.
In general, this is another solid piece from Oscar Jacobson. Ideal for the colder conditions throughout the winter, looks great and is wearable on and off the course.
PROS:
Smart design
Extremely warm for the winter rounds
Comfortable
Wearable on and off the course
CONS:
Sits slightly short around the belt line
Sizes: S-2XL
Colours: Cobalt / Black / Pewter Marl / Navy / Grey Marl
