The Puma Avant Golf Shoes in Black/Slate Sky are unbelievably smart and don’t leave you wanting for looks and style in the Autumn and Winter months.

Some golfers might not like the idea of a spikeless golf shoes in conditions that challenge you underfoot, but there should be no concerns about grip with these shoes.

Puma GS-X Efekt Women’s Golf Shoe

GS-X Efect Women’s G

5 star review

More information: Puma website

Puma’s GS-X golf shoes have been designed with a range of features. The first being a TPU-covered, waterproof mesh upper, designed to keep your feet dry without looking plasticated. This comes with a one year guarantee.

The soles of the shoes is thicker than most and spans wider where your foot sits providing a nice solid base. Inside there is a profoam eva mid sole than allows your foot to mole into the shoe.

4.5 star review

More information: Puma GS-X Efekt Golf Boot

The Puma GS-X Efekt Golf Boots really surprised me, and performed on the golf course in a way I didn’t think was possible.

They are big boots, there’s no question, and they made me feel solid and instilled a feeling of trust in my swing as my feet were planted to the grass.

This isn’t always a feeling you could have with spikeless golf footwear, but the Puma GS-X Efekt Golf Boot grew on me in both feeling and look.

Puma Ignite Elevate 2 Tour Golf Shoe

You wouldn’t be mistaken for recognising these Puma Ignite Elevate 2 Tour golf shoes, as J.J. Spaun recently claimed his maiden major title, the US Open, rocking a pair. On the whole, Puma has built a strong reputation for producing stylish, comfortable and performance-focused golf shoes, and the new IGNITE ELEVATE 2 Tour model is yet another example of this.

The Puma IGNITE ELEVATE 2 Tour golf shoe delivers an outstanding blend of style, comfort, and performance. Comfort levels are high throughout the round thanks to Puma’s responsive IGNITE foam midsole. On the course, the soft spikes provide tour-grade traction and a strong feeling of stability on all terrain.

Styling is a major highlight, with the shoe offering a clean, sporty look that feels modern yet smart. Add in the waterproof EXOSHELL upper, which promises protection without sacrificing breathability, and you’ve got everything a golfer could need from a pair of golf shoes.

Puma Royale Golf Shoe

puma royale golf shoe review

In terms of settings away from the golf course, you probably couldn’t wear these shoes anywhere else. This isn’t to their detriment as they are comfy and serve a purpose on the golf course, but they don’t really suit a social setting or milling around your local town centre. Especially in bright white, they reduce the versatility somewhat. In other colourways, feel free to experiment but when it comes to the pure white colourway, stick to the golf course and the 19th hole to be on the safe side.

Although this shoe has many modern features, it also has that classic style, and it is probably that classic look that makes this shoe exclusively suitable for the golf course and not for the social scene.

One thing is for sure – you will look the bee’s knees in the clubhouse and no doubt will get others enquiring about the puma golf shoes you have on.

Pros:

  • All white colour is very smart
  • Solid, secure feel on the golf course
  • Underfoot feeling and design is great

Cons:

  • The formal/pointed look might not suit everyone

Puma Ignite Elevate X Golf Shoe reveiw

It isn’t every day you come across a pair of golf shoes that you could wear on and off the golf course, but you have come across one here for sure. This isn’t to say that I would wear them out and about over a pair of trainers, but they definitely have the look and design to masquerade as a pair of trainers in social settings, and you wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

You could wear these to watch a sports event, and you could wear them in other social settings.

Pros:

  • Trainer/athletic look is very appealing
  • Comfortable with no stress on the golf course
  • Can be worn in off-course settings

Cons:

  • Some golfers might prefer a more traditional look

Now, I usually enjoy waxing lyrical about how Puma golf shoes suit non-golf settings, social settings where you can walk around town and go for a drink while wearing them. If I’m being honest, which I am, then I don’t think the Puma Avant golf shoes suit social settings.

By all means, if you are going to watch other sports and the conditions are wet, cold and muddy – go for it. They are reliable and again, the colour compliments the season. So in that regard, I can’t really fault the Puma Avant golf shoes because they do suit other sporting contexts.

If you do wear them away from the golf course for long periods, they aren’t going to give your feet any grief. A key reason for this is not having any spikes. Without spikes, there is less chance of your feet suffering from wear and tear, so this is a huge plus.

Pros:

  • Smart design that suits the season
  • Sturdy and solid feel that helps performance
  • Soft, spikeless feel helps with overall comfort levels

Cons:

  • Some might not like the plain design

Puma GS-X Efect Women’s Golf Shoe

5 star review
Puma GS-X Efekt Women’s Golf Shoe

The fact that the Puma GS-X shoes have a wider base than where your foot sits means that during your swing there is a lot of stability. This continues when you walk around the course, especially on a hillier course like the one I play at.

Overall, I really enjoyed wearing these Puma golf shoes and they have been out on the course many times over the last month and will continue to be throughout the rest of the season.

Pros:

  • Very comfortable
  • Provides a great amount of stability
  • Secure, thick laces
  • Causal, cool design

Cons:

  • Nothing

With their athletic, trainer-like style, you wouldn’t look out of place if you wore these out and about in town during the winter. They are very warm and sturdy, so your feet won’t be cold in the coming months.

The design and size of the boot might be a bridge too far for some golfers, so it also might be a bridge too far to wear it on social occasions or in the clubhouse.

But while many golf shoes are still in the past, this golf boot is versatile and if you were looking for something that crosses over into the real world off the golf course, these boots could tick that box.

Pros:

  • Solid, sturdy design and feeling of reliability
  • The look is unique and pleasing
  • Spacious, roomy and also warm

Cons:

  • Boots might feel heavy on your feet

Overall, these are one of my favourite releases this year and will certainly be getting a lot of use for myself. The design looks great, the comfort was ideal and I was really impressed with the tech included.

I think these would be a great option for all golfers in the summer ahead, and would certainly recommend exploring them further.

Pros:

  • Stylish
  • Spikeless technology is very impressive
  • Extremely comfortable

Puma Helsinki Golf Shoes

5 star review

The Puma Helsinki Golf Shoe offers a stylish, trainer-inspired look that appeals to those seeking versatility and modernity. Designed mainly for summer, they feature lightweight, breathable materials, and a comfortable fit – even for my wider feet.

The grip and stability are suitable on various terrains, making them ideal on and off course everyday wear.

While they might not be a go to pair for muddy wet winters, they excel in warm weather. The casual design may not suit traditionalists, but for those wanting a relaxed, sporty look, these shoes provide comfort, style, and practicality.

They also passed the sternest of waterproof tests and so would have no hesitation wearing these when it does rain in the warmer months and or when abroad.

Pros:

  • Very comfortable
  • Versatile – can easily be worn on and off the golf course
  • Great summer option – no issues with grip and support
  • Waterproof – this surprised me, but they definitely are!

Cons:

  • Not an all the year round golf shoe if you play golf on muddy courses in the winter
  • Looks not for everyone

How do we test golf shoes?

At National Club Golfer, we are passionate about producing accurate and thorough reviews and making sure our testing process is rigorous so we get a good understanding of how each pair of shoes performs. We want to provide a list of the best summer golf shoes 2025 and the best winter golf shoes 2025.

Each best golf shoe is worn out on the golf course whilst playing golf, so we can get an idea of overall performance in terms of factors like comfort, grip, stability in the golf swing, waterproof protection and how they actually look on the golf course.

What is important when buying Golf shoes?

When buying new golf footwear its important to know what attributes or features you value the most before deciding on a brand or model to buy. For example, do you want spiked or spikeless shoes?

A lot of golfers think comfort is paramount when choosing a shoe, we are going to be standing in them for 3-5 hours right? Some golf shoes on the market have special insoles and cushioned mid-soles designed to keep your feet feeling fresh. Also it’s pretty common for golfers with wide feet to wear the wrong sized pair of golf shoes so its worth getting fit properly.

Grip is vital to good performance on the golf course as any foot slip in dry or wet conditions can not only cause the golf club to swing improperly but may also lead to an injury. Golfers need traction and stability.

Nearly all golf shoes will either be fully waterproof or offer some kind of water resistance, and this is important as real die-hard golfers play in every weather condition. Having wet feet for 4 hours is not and will never be fun so keeping the feet dry is important, this might even mean you need gore tex in the shoe.

How good the shoe looks is of course subjective to personal style, but is important to any player. Do you prefer an athletic-looking shoe, or are you more full grain leather traditional? Does your shoe offer on-course off-course style or do you want shoes purely for the course? Does the style of shoe you like have the best colour options for your golfing wardrobe?

Price is the last factor to consider. With the models above we have tried to find shoes at all different price points so if you want a shoe at a lower cost, you can get one. Or if you want to spend more, you can do that too. Importantly there is something for everyone.

What brands produce the best golf shoes?

All of the products that will end up featuring in the best golf shoes 2025 article are picked from the brands that offer what we believe to be the best shoes on the market.

Do any pros wear spikeless golf shoes on tour?

As you will see on TV when watching the PGA, LPGA & DP World Tour, professionals wear both spiked and spikeless golf shoes, depending on their preference.

Some tour players are looking for extra stability and grip for maximum power creation that a spiked golf shoe might offer, and others are looking for the comfort and style that spikeless golf shoes offer. Some tour players prefer a running shoe style, and others a traditional classic leather shoe; there really isn’t a hard or fast rule as to what tour players wear.
