There was a time was the mini driver felt like quite a niche golf club to have in the bag. Fast forward to 2025 and it is becoming increasingly more of a staple in a lot of club golfers and pro golfers set ups. But, with a number of new releases this year, we wanted to see which are the best mini drivers on the market.
TaylorMade were one of the first major golf manufacturers to enter the mini driver market. They have now been joined by golfing heavyweights; PXG, Callaway and Titleist. Each of their offerings are designed to shine in different areas, whether that would be off the tee or from the fairway.
In this guide, we break down the pros and cons of each mini driver offering as well as shedding light on if it’s the right club for you. So here’s the best mini golf drivers 2025…
There are two main archetypes in the mini driver category. First of all, is the driver replacements, such as the TaylorMade BRNR and Callaway Paradym. Then there is the turbo-charged fairway woods, which includes the likes of the Titleist TSR2+.

When standing over the ball some people’s get a little freaked out by the big head and long shaft of a driver. I have certainly taught a few who think this way. This is why I think it could be a real substitute for a driver in some golfer’s bags.
My testing actually showed extremely tight shot grouping, particularly when compared against the performance I tend to get from my current driver and three-wood set up. I tend to spray the ball around the course so it was a nice change to keep the golf ball on the intended line more often.
Where the Elyte Mini truly shines is off the tee. Its shorter shaft and larger head allow for better control without sacrificing much distance. Shots were straighter and more controlled, with only a 10-yard drop-off compared to a traditional driver. The mini driver also delivered impressive performance in terms of forgiveness; even mishits stayed relatively close to the intended target line, showcasing Callaway’s commitment to playability.

Throughout testing the R7 Quad Mini Driver delivered serious speed. My ball speeds were consistently in the 157–159 mph range, which is barely a shade behind most modern full-size drivers I have tested this year. With carry distances topping 256–262 yards, this is no fairway wood substitute for me, it’s a legitimate secondary driver.
Off the tee, there was no shift in performance; it’s a rocket launcher. But what I thought was particularly impressive is how well it performs off the deck. While its deep face may appear intimidating at first glance, the larger head size and weight-back adjustability make it surprisingly forgiving off the turf.

Compared to a traditional 3-wood, it is noticeably bigger, more forgiving, and longer, especially for players who tend to play their fairway wood frequently.
With exceptional ball speeds, a timeless aesthetic, and a level of adjustability that puts it in a class of its own, this is a standout release for 2025. I think it’s fair to say it is more than just a throwback, it’s a meaningful evolution. I’m a fan.

As much as this is a retro and cool bit of golf equipment, TaylorMade have included some brand new bits of technology in the construction of this mini driver.
Technology that includes TaylorMade’s Twist Face which is included on all of the brands drivers. The crown is also crafted from a multi material design with carbon, titanium and steel all prevalent in the crown.
Performance wise, I definitely think this is a lower spinning club than what a driver would usually produce. On my Sunday best these just about goes as far as my driver off the tee, but on average is a little shorter hitting. Sits in between the driver and 3-wood distance range.
The consistency of the ball flight was hugely impressive, even on strikes I caught a bit ‘toey’. I didn’t expect there to be much forgiveness but these off-centred strikes still held the fairway well with a nice ball flight.
Overall, if you are someone who struggles off the tee with their driver then this could be the perfect alternative. In truth I wasn’t sure what to expect from the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver, but I came away loving it. It is really playable as a driver and a 3-wood. There are things I would tweak, in terms of loft, before putting it in play but I can certainly see the appeal.

Off the tee, I found the GT280 to be somewhat of a revelation. At address the club provides a confidence-inspiring without being overly bulky. When teed lower, I was able to hit shots remarkably like a three-wood. I was able to consistently hit a controlled, penetrating ball flight with enough spin to maintain stability.
On the flip side when teed higher, it acts more like a driver. My ball flight was then launching with impressive carry and low spin for optimal roll-out. So, from the tee box the club was able to hit whatever shot I required.
The flat sole design is another masterstroke by Titleist. Unlike other Mini Drivers that can feel clunky when played off the fairway, the GT280’s sole design allows it to sit comfortably behind the ball. This makes it far easier to launch from tight lies, where other Mini Drivers might struggle. I believe it’s genuinely one of the few Mini Drivers that comfortably bridges the gap between driver and three-wood.

In summary, if you’re looking for the best mini golf drivers for 2025 you have plenty to choose from. All of golf’s big hitters have a mini driver option on the market now, and to be honest you can’t really go wrong with any of them.
Before purchasing a mini diver it is important to be clear and aware of how you intend to use it in game. If you are looking for something to predominantly use off the tee then the Callaway Elyte may be the choice for you as it can be a bit of a struggle to use off the fairways. Additionally, if you want a mini driver that delivers the best of both worlds, the PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver could be the one for you.
