Galvin Green AL waterproof jacket review – First impressions
This is probably the flagship item of Galvin’s Part 2 collection which was released in autumn 2018.
Galvin Green are market leaders when it comes to waterproofs and I think this is what most golfers associate them with.
The AL is very much a shell jacket which is quite minimal but is absolutely loaded with technology to keep you dry and offer complete freedom of movement out on the golf course.
It’s available in three different colours and has sizes from small to 3XL.
Galvin Green AL waterproof jacket review – The technology
This full-zip jacket is made from ultra-lightweight stretch Gore-Tex fabric with C-Knit backer.
The revolutionary Japanese-made fabric has a super smooth texture and can ‘slide & glide’ over garments underneath.
The complex 3-layer construction makes it highly breathable as well as durable.
It has an innovative rubberised collar and shaped cuffs.
There’s a great amount of adjustability here too with tightening straps on the sleeves and chest as well as an adjustable cord around the waist.
Galvin Green AL waterproof jacket review – The results
As soon as you put this jacket on, it feels like a highly-premium piece of kit.
It’s incredibly light and the material has a really soft luxurious feel.
The stretchy nature of the fabric means it doesn’t restrict you in any way whatsoever.
And it goes without saying but the waterproofing is second to none.
The way the water bounces of the material needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Water is never able to cling or gather to the material meaning you’ll stay dry even in the toughest conditions.
Galvin Green AL waterproof jacket review – NCG verdict
Putting this jacket on instantly makes you feel like a ‘proper’ golfer.
It’s a piece of kit which has been designed specially for golf and that really shines through.
If you’re a serious golfer and like to keep playing in any conditions, this is an essential piece of kit.
