Can you believe this is the seventh generation of the Z-star? It’s back for 2021 with some serious technology upgrades and it looks like it’s been impressing on tour already.
Reigning Open champion Shane Lowry has put the ball straight in his bag, while Ryan Fox says he’s “played every model of the ball since its inception and this new one’s the best one yet.”
He added: “It’s great in the wind, heaps of speed off the driver, and lots of control around the greens. You guys will love it.”
US Open champion and Ryder Cup legend Graeme McDowell added his thoughts on Twitter:
As did three-time PGA and European Tour winner Russell Knox:
So what’s new? Let’s take a look…
2021 Srixon Z-Star: The line-up
There are two golf balls in the new line up. First the Srixon Z-Star is a three-piece ball which has the highest spin and also has the softest feel of the two Z-Star offerings. It is designed to have a mid-height trajectory.

The Srixon Z-Star XV is a four-piece ball with a smaller inner core. It is designed to fly higher and be slightly firmer than the standard Z-Star model. This is also designed to be the longest ball in the line-up.
2021 Srixon Z-Star: The technology
The Z-Star is renowned for being a long golfer ball thanks to players such as Cameron Champ putting them in play on the PGA Tour. The key tech behind this is the FastLayer Core which is soft in the centre and gradually becomes firmer as you move out to the edges. This combines speed with ideal launch conditions.
