Who doesn’t love new gear? Especially when they look as good as the new Titleist irons. But we’ll get to that soon enough.
Before we do, last weekend I kick-started my golf season playing in the Comboy Leveret, a 72-hole WAGR event at Formby Ladies and Delamere Forest. It was great to get back out competing after the off season, a highlight being shooting a 3-under par 68 in the second round. I tested out the new Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 shoes and have to say they were really comfortable with my feet feeling fresh even after playing 72 holes in two days.
A historic week for women’s golf
As a female golfer it is really great to see the new innovative tournaments taking place this week to promote women’s golf, so I couldn’t resist a quick comment on all three women’s golf tournaments taking place this week.
The first major of the year the ANA Inspiration starts at the Mission Hills Country Club in California. Georgia Hall will be looking to add win another major to her resume after her victory at the Women’s British Open last year, whilst fellow Englishwoman Charley Hull looks to improve on her tied-2nd finish in 2016.
Wednesday marked the start of the first Augusta National Women’s Amateur as Jennifer Kupcho, the World No. 1 amateur, teed off at Augusta. The historic new tournament has been highly anticipated by top women amateur golfers around the world.

The event was designed to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these exceptional players to fulfil their dreams.
I don’t think my younger self would believe that all these female golfers are being given the opportunity to compete at Augusta. I can’t wait to watch this event unfold and see how it promotes women’s golf on the world stage.
Last, but not least, the Jordan Mixed Open started today and sees three tours, the Ladies European Tour, Staysure Tour and Challenge Tour combine and compete for one prize fund.

It is really exciting to see women’s golf getting the recognition it deserves. I hope this weeks historic events kick-start more mixed tournaments and more coverage of ladies golf on TV and across the media.
Right, that Masters scripting, and where better to start?
Tiger on the prowl in this Masters scripting
As the excitement for the Masters builds Nike have released the outfits we will see Tiger walk the fairways in next week.
The shirts all feature a mock turtleneck style in different colours including Tiger’s Sunday red. These will be paired with TW custom pants, TW Aerobill Classic 99 and Nike Aerobill Classic 99 hats.
What do you think of Tiger’s outfits for Augusta? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us.
Special Masters edition of the Spieth 3
Jordan Spieth love of Augusta National and his exceptional record at this event. This year Under Armour have launched a special edition of the Spieth 3 shoes for Jordan to wear throughout the Masters.
The splashes of pink are to represent the famous azaleas, while the shoes collar features Jordan’s record tying -18 score from 2015.
And here is Spieth’s Masters scripting for the week:
Adidas reveal Masters scripting for DJ, Garcia and Schauffele.
DJ’s Master’s outfits feature his typical muted colour palette based around multiple grey tones with small splashes of colour. His outfits will be paired with the TOUR360 XT footwear.
The 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia will be looking to add another Green Jacket to his collection this week. His clothing features lots of stripes with yellow and green tones being the main theme across his scripting.
Schauffele has gone for multiple shades of green to grace the fairways of Augusta at the start of the week before going for a simpler black ensemble on Sunday.

Line them up
Away from Masters scripting, the Chrome Soft X is a new addition to Callaway’s line of golf balls.
The main new feature of the ball is the introduction of Triple Track Technology. This is the red and blue lines on the side of the golf ball to act as alignment aids.
Phil Mickelson had the golf ball in his bag this year on route to winning AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am.
This looks great for improving alignment when putting, I think the use of three lines of differing colours and thickness will really raise your awareness of where you are aiming. I can’t wait to test these out, look out for my review coming soon…
Available: April 19
RRP: £39.99 per dozen

New Titleist irons
OK, the showstopper you’ve all been waiting for.
Introducing CNCPT by Titleist, featuring two brand new iron models. The CNCPT irons are designed to be a premium product, developed using new technologies with the best materials, to provide the user with ultimate performance.
Titleist says these clubs provide higher ball speeds than we have ever seen before in an iron. This is made possible by the super strong metal alloy used in the club face. This material allows the club face to be as thin as possible but also a constant thickness across the face. Named the Super Metal L-Face Insert is it checked rigorously to ensure uniformity and accuracy.
The CP-01 is designed to have supreme speed with high launch and forgiveness whereas the CP-02 is engineered to provide optimum speed in a playable blade.
Visually these two new CNCPT irons look fantastic, especially the CP-02. The new materials and technology behind these products are really exciting. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these clubs and see how they perform.
Available: Fittings available from early May
SRP: £3500 for 7 irons
More information can be found on the Titleist website.
