Exeter Golf and Country Club is officially England’s ‘Most Welcoming Golf Club’ after winning the prestigious award at the England Golf Awards 2019 in March.
In addition to a number of successful Get Into Golf programmes, free taster sessions and a growing junior golf section, Exeter Golf and Country Club turned their attention to encouraging women to take up the sport via a series of creative videos, social media campaigns and fun events, focussing on the social side of golf.
Recognising that a happy team leads to happy customers, the club attribute their success to their staff and have invested in training and recognition, treating them, as well as customers, as individuals.
The club has existed since 1895 and this year celebrates 90 years at their current location just minutes from Exeter city centre, where facilities also include swimming, fitness and racket sports. The spa and restaurant at the club are open for non-members, along with function rooms for meetings, parties and weddings; together, welcoming thousands of guests each year.
The result is that the club is very much in demand. There’s a waiting list for men’s golf membership and a thriving women’s section, together totalling over 700 members, with golf societies and visiting golfers booking up in advance.
