After a thrilling finale in the men’s competition, won by Xander Schauffele, attention turns to the women’s Olympic golf tournament at the Olympic Games.
Mel Reid, Jodie Ewart Shadoff, Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow carry the flags for Great Britain and Ireland.
Venue: Kasumigaseki Country Club, Saitama, Japan
Date: August 3-6 2021
Course stats: Par 71; 6,487yds
Course summary: Just an hour north of the Olympic Village, Kasumigaseki Country Club is typical Japanese tree-lined parklands course. Pristine Zoysiagrass fairways slalom towards well-protected Bentgrass greens, with thick Zoysiagrass rough awaiting any wayward shots. Heat and humidity may be the biggest factor here, and is certainly a consideration in my selections this week.
2016 medallists: Gold: Inbee Park (gold), Lydia Ko (silver), Shanshan Feng (bronze)

Women’s Olympic Golf betting tips
Bazza’s Banker: Yuka Saso @ 23/1 with Bet365
At just 20-years-old, Saso has already set the golf world alight with a major championship victory at the 2021 Women’s US Open. After becoming the first Filipino winner of a major championship, Saso now aims to bring home Olympic gold. She has been in great form of late, with one win, three top 10s and seven top-25 finishes in her last seven starts. That is the perfect way to prepare for an event like this, and I am almost certain she will relish the opportunity to perform again on the world stage.
The outsider: Anna Nordqvist @ 60/1 with Bet365
One thing that we can always depend on with Nordqvist is that her experience will shine through. With eight LPGA Tour wins and two major championships to her name, Nordqvist will not be over-awed by the Olympic stage, and with an 11th-place finish at Rio 2016 she will want to make progress this time around. The Swede arrives in good form, with two 5th place finishes in her last five starts. If she can get ahead early on, the others may struggle to out manoeuvre Nordqvist.
The long shot: Sanna Nuutinen @ 100/1 with Bet365
Nuutinen is a name that followers of the Ladies European Tour will know well. And although this is a big step up, she has the quality to challenge at a big price. Nuutinen has been in great form this season, with six top-10 finishes in her last nine starts. When you consider that three of those finishes were in the top three, she certainly knows how to contend and could be a great each-way shout if she handles conditions.
