FootJoy Fuel Sport Women’s golf shoes

FootJoy are often thought of for their classic looking shoes designs. The FJ Fuel Sport golf shoes are a little more on the sportier side, supporting a trainer look alike. Keeping with that theme, these are spikeless golf shoes meaning that they could act as multi-purpose footwear if desired.

At first glance, the plain white upper looks to be leather but when you take a closer look you can actually see the textured detail. This FootJoys breathable performance mesh. It is used in a few of their other shoes such as the latest FJ Pro SL.

They are constructed from stratolite foam that is designed to provide optimal support and control. When I was static or swinging I found these shoes very supportive. As these are spikeless golf shoes I wasn’t sure how much grip they would provide. The outsole features tour proven traction and I can only agree with that. There are little plastic spikes around the perimeter of the shoe with a corrugated midsection. The heel of the shoe sunk in a little but this couldn’t be felt as overall the whole sole was level. I was really impressed with how well it worked out on the course.

When it came to maintaining the conditon of these shoes they cleaned up really easily. They also didn’t crease too much as they don’t have a leather upper and the mesh is a little more forgiving in that area.

Overall, if you’re wanting a sportier FootJoy shoe as appose to the classic design then this is a great shoe to have.

PROS

  • Sporty look
  • Soft sole inside the shoe
  • Beautiful colours

CONS

  • A lot of toe cap room

Under Armour Women’s Charged Breathe 2 golf shoes

Straight away, I really liked the sporty styling of these and the subtle detailing. The white and blue neutral colour palette is very subtle and means you can wear this with a wide variety of outfits which is excellent.

The upper of this shoe is a breathable, durable microfiber leather upper with a waterproof membrane. While this wasn’t put to the test in Cyprus it has been back over here in the UK. These have helped my feet stay dry in downpours and also while searching for my ball in thick wet rough. Which is definitely impressive.

One thing Under Armour takes very seriously is traction. They work closely with JJ Rivet, one of the most famous golf biomechanists in the world to ensure their shoes are delivering the best grip so you can generate more power. To do this there shoes are designed from the ground up to deliver best in class traction.

These shoes have survived through light rain, heavy rain and thick wet grass when looking for my golf ball and I am pleased to report my feet have stayed dry throughout. This is key for my fellow UK golfers who play golf in a wide variety of weather, usually throughout each round.

PROS

  • Best in-category traction
  • Neutral design goes with anything
  • Extremely comfortable underfoot
  • Supportive around ankle

CONS

  • Only one colour option

How good is this colourway?! I love the bright pink around the sole and the block sections of different colours.

As usual, I got these in a UK size 6 and the fit was perfect. Straight off the bat, these were an extremely comfortable pair of golf shoes. The stratofoam midsole cushioning feels really soft underfoot and I actually found the collar around the heel and ankle felt thicker and more cushioned in this model.

I really like the fact these have a wider sole base as lots of shoes, especially women’s models, can be too narrow and don’t give you a secure base to swing from.

If you’re worried about waterproofing then stress no more. The performance mesh is covered with an ultra-thin TPU hotmelt which makes these shoes 100% waterproof.

PROS

  • Sporty styling
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Great grip

CONS

  • Colour on toe has worn quickly

Puma GS-Fast Women’s Golf Shoes

How cool and casual are these? Puma have really nailed the trainer-style shoe here. This is a really cool design that I would be happy to wear both on and off the golf course.

My favourite feature is probably just how comfortable these are. The fit really helps with this, and I like the support you get from the high back heel structure. The inner heel is covered with a soft mesh interior so you don’t need to worry about getting blisters in these.

Underfoot Puma have included unique layers of cushioning, which they are calling Fusion Foam. This provides energy return to help your foot feel supported and fresh for the whole round. These are the kind of shoes you put on and forget you ever need to change, they don’t feel heavy to walk around in, and the versatility of the design means you can easily put these on at home and go into the clubhouse or bar afterwards in them.

These are made from a waterproof seam-sealed microfiber leather upper with TPU skin. This makes the shoe completely waterproof so you can battle the elements while on the course. This waterproof seam-sealed upper definitely worked, as these have managed to keep my feet dry through numerous rainy days. These also come with a one-year waterproof warranty.

PROS

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Waterproof
  • Very versatile design

CONS

  • Not as stable as spiked shoes

Callaway Aurora Women’s golf shoes

Aesthetically, I really enjoy the style of these shoes. I love casual, spikeless golf shoes which provide comfort and style on the course. Colourwise I often stick to black and white golf shoes however I did enjoy the subtle champagne colour. Whilst this may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Callaway does offer the Aurora in a dazzling Silver/Blue and a slightly tamer Charcoal/Coral.

Walking down to the first fairway I had certainly changed my option on the Aurora shoes since trying them on at home. That foam padding on the inside is Callaway’s Opti-Soft Foam Midsole insert, which I initially thought squashed my foot in fact molded to my feet providing a great amount of support. Being made of foam my foot actually bedded into the shoe which was very comfortable. This also meant that I no longer doubted the shoe sizing and would say that they are a perfect fit! However, I must point out that as someone who doesn’t typically buy wide-fit shoes, I definitely needed this in these.

A lot of ‘summer’ spikeless golf shoes tend to be mainly comprised of mesh. I really like that these are all leather and would feel comfortable playing in them on a wet day. Speaking of being waterproof, Callaway offers a 12-month waterproof guarantee with these shoes.

PROS

  • Mold to your feet
  • Lightweight.
  • Great range of sizes

CONS

  • Wide fitting isn’t very wide

Colours: White/Grey, Silver/Blue, Charcoal/Coral.

G Fore Women’s MG4+ TPU Camo Golf Shoes

Wow! I think these have to be the coolest golf shoes I have ever been sent. I am in completely in love with the design. I absolutely adore the bold, bright pink colour, and the funky camo sole really makes these stand out. You certainly won’t miss me on the golf course in these.

This insole is pretty interesting. G Fore describes it as a antimicrobial triple-density foam cushion footbed with massaging nubs. This is designed to be soft and more comfortable underfoot but also to massage the sole of the foot. It is definitely comfortable, but it does take a while to get used to the textured feeling under your foot. Interestingly this is washable and can be taken in and out of the shoe to clean.

The upper is made from a fully waterproof, high-abrasion-resistant TPU. I have found this exceptionally easy to clean, which will definitely help you extend the life of this shoe and keep it looking new for longer. It also seems to be much harder to crease than more traditional materials which again keeps them smarter.

I can also say the waterproofing works, these have kept my feet dry in rainy conditions and also in long grass when searching for golf balls. (I swear it was my playing partners.)

PROS

  • Fashionable, eye-catching design
  • Very comfortuble

CONS

  • Bold design may not be for everyone

Sketchers Arch Fit Go Golf Max 2 golf shoes

Sketchers are very much renowned for their comfort factor. These shoes are no different as they are packed with ultra-flight cushioning foam to help support your feet. In fact, the Arch Fit® insole system has been podiatrist designed shaped, and developed. The arch design has been created based on 20 years of data and 120,000 unweighted foot scans, all designed at creating the most supportive shoe possible.

These shoes are all about supporting your foot and they do this very well out on the course. The inner of the shoe features ultra-lightweight responsive ultra-flight cushioning that is in the sole of the shoe. The insoles are designed to mold to your feet to help distribute weight evenly and reduce shock. The patented sketcher’s arch fit insole system has a removable sole so you can alter the padding in the shoe.

The Arch Fit Go Golf Max 2 shoes are 100% waterproof protection according to the Sketchers website. Unfortunately, when it came to testing it didn’t rain and so I don’t have any first-hand experience. I would say that they do feel very sturdy and durable. These shoes come with a one-year waterproof guarantee.

Overall, these are a great pair of shoes, offering both style and comfort. They have a firm durable feel made from part leather, part mesh upper with a waterproof coating. They are a great investment for the price and well worth the money.

  • Very sturdy
  • Lightweight
  • Waterproof
  • Grippy sole

Adidas ZG23 Women’s golf shoes

It’s safe to say that the Adidas ZG23 golf shoe is a great-looking pair of golf shoes that follow a very traditional Adidas design scheme. The pure white look with a hint of bright vibrant colour gives a sporty look and an excellent style to have coming into the golf season.

As a huge Adidas fan, I was always going to love the style of the shoe and playing in them was just as enjoyable. This shoe offers great comfort with its soft interior that is constructed from Hybrid Lightstrike Pro and Lightstrike cushioning. This is all very lightweight meaning you don’t even recognise that they have been on your feet for the whole duration of the round.

Overall, these are a great pair of golf shoes. I really enjoyed wearing them and the leather upper meant that they were really easy to keep clean between rounds. Whilst I didn’t get the chance to test them in the rain, they survived the morning dew well. There is also a one-year waterproof guarantee to put your mind at ease.

PROS

  • Great looking pair of golf shoes
  • Stable six-cleat base
  • Comfortable

Payntr X 0003 Spikeless golf shoes

Reviewed by Hannah Holden

Finally, a shoe that ticks that sporty trainer-like box! I love the simplicity of this design and the subtle silver details that Payntr have added. The white and silver design makes these very versatile with a wide array of outfits, and I love how casual they are.

The thing I first noticed about these is just how soft and cushioned they feel underfoot. This is thanks to what Payntr call a single-density PMX foam midsole. This is so soft it almost felt like I was walking on a bed of clouds. This softness comes from a layer of open-cell foam in the footbed. I did wonder if this would fade over time, but this material compresses less than 5% in its lifetime, and so far I have seen no drop in comfort.

Although this isn’t a waterproof model, the clarino microfiber upper is coated with a neverwet superhydrophobic solution to make it water-resistant. I have been in damp grass in these and light showers and my feet have stayed perfectly dry.

Overall I have really enjoyed testing these Payntr golf shoes. They are certainly one of the most comfortable models on the market without giving up on that all-important performance. You will catch me wearing these a lot this summer.

PROS

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Neutral design matches everything
  • Excellent traction, especially for a spikeless model

CONS

  • Laces are very short

Duca Del Cosma Avanti Pro Spike Golf Shoe

4 star review

Straight away, I loved the smart styling of these. I think Duca has done a great job of creating a middle ground between something traditional and something more funky and new. Visually this is a great modern golf shoe. I love the all-white choice but with different shades to create more visual interest on the upper of the shoe. I also love the addition of the red sole, it makes me think ‘Louboutin’s’ and gives these an extra touch of flair.

I love a spiked golf shoe, so was super excited as soon as I heard about these back at the PGA Show in January. The spiked sole really delivers, I have loads of traction out on the golf course, regardless of the lies or locations I put myself in. This makes me feel really comfortable going full out at the golf ball and knowing I’m not going to slip. As well as the obvious soft spikes, the sole also features secondary 5mm traction studs for increased stability.

These are advertised as waterproof, and I can confirm they tick all the boxes here. I have played in these in light rain and heavy rain, as well as trekking through my fair share of long wet rough, and my feet have remained dry throughout. If you are someone who plays golf no matter the weather, these are certainly a great all-weather option.

Overall I have really enjoyed testing these golf shoes, I love the traction and stability which makes them favourites when it comes to picking which shoes I will wear out on the course.

PROS

  • Smart classic styling
  • Excellent traction
  • Really easy to clean
    Very good support

CONS

  • Firm, quality leather might need to be worn in

Best Womens Golf Shoes

The search for the perfect ladies’ golf shoe involves finding the right balance between comfort, style, and performance. We have delved into some of the best options on the market, including the FJ Fuel Sport, Under Armour Women’s Charged Breathe 2, FootJoy Pro SL Sport, Puma GS-Fast, Callaway Aurora, G Fore Women’s MG4+ TPU Cam, Sketchers Arch Fit Go Golf Max 2, Adidas ZG23, Payntr X 0003 Spikeless, and Duca Del Cosma Avanti Pro Spike.

Each of these shoes brings something unique to the table, offering a distinct blend of comfort, grip, and design to suit different styles and needs. However, the perfect pair of golf shoes will be the one that fits your foot shape, compliments your swing, and enhances your comfort on the course.

Take your time to try on different styles and brands to find the one that fits you best. With the right pair of golf shoes, you’ll be ready to walk the fairways with confidence and style.

How do we test golf shoes?

At National Club Golfer, we are passionate about producing accurate and thorough reviews and making sure our testing process is rigorous so we get a good understanding of how each pair of shoes performs.

Each shoe is worn out on the golf course whilst playing golf, so we can get an idea of overall performance in terms of factors like comfort, grip, stability in the golf swing, waterproof protection and how they actually look on the golf course.

What is important when buying Golf shoes?

When buying new golf footwear its important to know what attributes or features you value the most before deciding on a brand or model to buy. For example, do you want spiked or spikeless shoes?

A lot of golfers think comfort is paramount when choosing a shoe, we are going to be standing in them for 3-5 hours right? Some golf shoes on the market have special insoles and cushioned mid-soles designed to keep your feet feeling fresh. Also it’s pretty common for golfers with wide feet to wear the wrong sized pair of golf shoes so its worth getting fit properly.

Grip is vital to good performance on the golf course as any foot slip in dry or wet conditions can not only cause the golf club to swing improperly but may also lead to an injury.

Nearly all golf shoes will either be fully waterproof or offer some kind of water resistance, and this is important as real die-hard golfers play in every weather condition. Having wet feet for 4 hours is not and will never be fun.

How good the shoe looks is of course subjective to personal style, but is important to any player. Do you prefer an athletic-looking shoe, or are you more traditional? Does your shoe offer on-course off-course style or do you want shoes purely for the course? Does the style of shoe you like have the best colour options for your golfing wardrobe?

Price is the last factor to consider. With the models above we have tried to find shoes at all different price points so if you want a shoe at a lower cost, you can get one. Or if you want to spend more, you can do that too. Importantly there is something for everyone.

Do any pros wear spikeless golf shoes on tour?

As you will see on TV when watching the PGA, LPGA & DP World Tour, professionals wear both spiked and spikeless golf shoes, depending on their preference.

Some tour players are looking for extra stability and grip for maximum power creation that a spiked golf shoe might offer, and others are looking for the comfort and style that spikeless golf shoes offer. Some tour players prefer a running shoe style, and others a traditional classic leather shoe; there really isn’t a hard or fast rule as to what tour players wear.
