7 Events For Golf Bettors To Look Forward To In 2024

As we usher in 2024, it’s only fitting to cast a hopeful gaze forward, setting aside the tumultuous happenings of 2023. The upcoming year promises a slew of significant golf events that will undoubtedly captivate enthusiasts worldwide.

And we’ll have a host of golf betting opportunities with the UK’s many online bookmakers, including the new ones on bettingsites.co.uk that are reviewed regularly; as Jamie Clark says, “At bettingsites.co.uk, we employ gambling experts for honest reviews based on their real-life experience of using the best bookies in the UK. What we feel sets us apart from other players in the industry is that we’ve made authenticity our hallmark.”

So, you can safely and easily enjoy the thrill of a bet or two on your favourite players throughout the busy calendar.

From historic tournaments to milestone anniversaries and pivotal competitions, here’s a rundown of seven noteworthy events that promise exciting times ahead this year.

1. LIV Golf Mayakoba (2nd – 4th February)

Kicking off the third year of the LIV Golf League, all eyes will be on El Camaleon Golf Course in Mexico. Questions loom: Who will join Jon Rahm’s team?

Will the landscape shift with more PGA Tour players crossing over? Will Rahm break his recent vow not to speak to the press

One thing, however, is for sure: the already controversial LIV Golf league certainly promises to get the 2024 golfing calendar off with a bang.

2. Players Championship (14th – 17th March)

The golfing world loves a significant milestone, and this year commemorates the 50th edition of the PGA Tour’s esteemed event. While the foremost LIV players might be absent, the tournament promises to be the highlight of the year thus far, showcasing an array of talent, special features and festivities.

3. Men’s Major Championships

The four cornerstone events of men’s golf are set to enthral golfing fans:

  • Masters (11th – 14th April): Augusta National’s traditions and iconic moments beckon, with significant anniversaries adding layers of nostalgia.
  • PGA Championship (16th – 19th May): Valhalla, a historic venue, sets the stage for memorable clashes and reflections on past triumphs.
  • U.S. Open (13th – 16th June): Pinehurst No. 2 brings forth poignant memories, notably Payne Stewart’s unforgettable victory 25 years ago.
  • Open Championship (18th – 21st July): Royal Troon hosts, echoing Seve Ballesteros’ brilliance and Peter Thomson’s early triumphs.

4. Olympics – Men’s & Women’s Competitions (1st – 4th & 7th – 10th August)

Every quadrennial event holds special significance, and the 2024 Olympics in Paris is no exception. The magnificent Le Golf National will serve as the backdrop for both competitions. While Justin Rose clinched gold in Rio’s 2016 Olympics, Xander Schauffele claimed victory in the rescheduled 2021 Tokyo Games. For the women, Inbee Park and Nelly Korda stand as the recent gold medal victors in women’s golf, with Korda likely to be a front-runner once more, marking three years since her triumph in Tokyo.

5. AIG Women’s Open (22nd – 25th August)

St. Andrews, the Old Course, provides a picturesque backdrop for the AIG Women’s Open. But let’s face it, any event at the iconic Old Course invariably earns a spot on the must-watch list of the year. It just so happens that this is a great one, because, for the third occasion, female golfers will grace this esteemed venue, following Lorena Ochoa’s victory in 2007 and Stacy Lewis’s triumph in 2013.

Few experiences rival the excitement of witnessing competitors vie for a major title on a Sunday, navigating the challenging final holes at St. Andrews. Make no mistake: the drama will be palpable.

6. Solheim Cup (13th – 15th September)

With memories of the 2023 tie still fresh, the Solheim Cup returns with fervor; Europe and the U.S. renew their rivalry, promising intense competition and electrifying moments. The previous showdown in Spain concluded in a 14-14 deadlock, allowing Europe to maintain possession of the Cup. With captains Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis returning, and both teams showcasing familiar lineups, expectations lean towards another nail-biting finish.

Recapturing the intensity of 2023 might be challenging, yet, given the circumstances, a repeat performance certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

7. Presidents Cup (26th – 29th September)

Concluding the year, the Presidents Cup heads to Royal Montreal. Despite past disparities in competitiveness, the event offers Canada a golden opportunity, with local hero Mike Weir steering the International team.

Final Thoughts

What a year for the golfing calendar. 2024 is set to emerge as a landmark year for the sport. From historic tournaments to international competitions, the calendar brims with excitement, anticipation, and, perhaps, a little trepidation for some. As narratives unfold and champions fight for their place, golf gamblers can look forward to a year replete with memorable moments, and excellent wagering possibilities.
