WITB: Hideki Matsuyama – WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Hideki Matsuyama put a new TaylorMade putter in the bag ahead of his victory at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
The World No. 3 used a Scotty Cameron model during his hot streak at the start of 2017 but opted for the TaylorMade TP Mullen Tour Proto at Firestone. To say it worked a treat would be an understatement.
The Mullen is a larger mallet style model from the TP Collection which also includes the Soto and Juno model – as used by Rory McIlroy.

Normally known as being a bit of a tweaker, Matsuyama has had the Callaway Great Big Bertha driver in the bag for his last few victories which have seen him climb the world rankings.
He’s had the 2017 M2 3-wood on the go since the beginning of this year.
As a Cleveland/Srixon staffer, Matsuyama uses the Z965 irons – the sleekest bladed model from the Z65 series – and the RTX 2.0 Cleveland wedges.
He uses lead tape on the back of some of his irons to fine-tune the centre of gravity and add a bit more weight to the clubhead.
Matsuyama uses the 2017 model of the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball.
