Here’s how to get a ticket for the 2024 Open Championship

Make sure you know how to get a ticket for the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon

It’s that time of year again. Want a ticket to next year’s Open Championship? Well, you need to be on your toes!

We haven’t entered Open week for the 151st championship at Royal Liverpool yet and plans are already underway for the 152nd Open at Royal Troon in July 2024 (17-24).

Before you know it, the best players in the world will be taking on the Postage Stamp on one of Scotland’s greatest links courses, following their dreams of hoisting the Claret Jug.

Troon last held The Open in 2016 when Henrik Stenson overcame Phil Mickelson in an epic battle no one at the golf course that day is likely to forget.

The likes of Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Bobby Locke have all become the champion golfer of the year in past championships at Troon.

Once again, the R&A anticipates high demand for tickets and the ballot system will be used to make sure fans across the globe have an equal and fair opportunity to attend the event.

Following the success of the tournaments at Royal Portrush and the 150th Open at St Andrews, fans flock to golf’s oldest major more than ever before.

The ballot will open on Tuesday, June 27 and run until Tuesday, July 25. They will be available to members of The One Club which is a free-to-join membership programme. Fans can sign up via TheOpen.com.

Ticket prices for The Open at Royal Troon Golf Club on the Ayrshire links will start from £95 for an adult on Championship days and from £25 on practice days.

A new Ticket Plus option will be used for the first time and can be bought now, offering fans the chance to enjoy the golf in a private bar and gourmet food trucks.

Free tickets will be offered to children through the long-running “Kids go Free” programme, while 16-24-year-olds can get half-price youth tickets.

“The Open is a real highlight in the global sporting calendar which golf and sports fans everywhere look forward to enormously,” R&A CEO Martin Slumbers said.

“We have seen demand to attend the Championship rise each year and so continuing with the ticket ballot is the most effective means to ensure that as many fans as possible get a chance to secure their ticket.

“We are looking forward to returning to Royal Troon for another special week in July next year when the Championship will be held there for the tenth time in its renowned history.”
