Betfred British Masters TV times and betting tips
After three stunning weeks on the Canary Islands, and two exquisite displays by Garrick Higgo, we head back to home soil for one of my favourite European Tour events of the season. It is Danny Willett’s turn to host the British Masters this year, with The Belfry as his chosen venue. But before I tell you who I fancy to win this week here is all the information you need…
Betfred British Masters details
Venue: The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, England
Date: May 12-15, 2021
Course stats: Brabazon Course – Par 72; 7,232 yards.
Course summary: This four-time Ryder Cup venue is one that we know all about and the European Tour stars were there for the UK Championship a year ago as part of the pandemic-powered British swing. Heavily tree-lined fairways, water in-play on nine holes, and small, well-bunkered greens await the players here, with distance off the tee a real advantage. Plenty of risk and reward options should appeal to the brave in the field, with a low score expected to win this.
Purse: £1.85 million
Defending champion: Renato Paratore (-18 at Close House)

Betfred British Masters betting tips
As usual, I’m joined by NCG’s Steve Carroll to discuss my betting tips for the Valspar Championship on the Dialled In podcast. I’ve picked out three players who I fancy to go well this week.
You can listen to the podcast in the player below, or on your preferred podcast platform.
Bazza’s Banker: Rasmus Hojgaard @ 25/1 with Bet365
This time last year we were just about to witness the brilliance of Hojgaard that saw him secure his second European Tour win, finish in the top-six in four consecutive events, and fly off to an extended stint on the PGA Tour. Back at the venue where he secured his most recent victory, I fancy Hojgaard to show why he is one of the top talents in European golf right now. On his last European Tour start, Hojgaard finished T12 in Austria, closing with a 69-67 over the weekend to add to his two top-10 finishes this season. Hojgaard also ranks 20th for SG: Tee-to-Green and is one of the longer hitters on tour, so should also give himself plenty of opportunities to attack the scoreable course. At this price, I can’t resist putting him up as my top tip.
The outsider: Calum Hill @ 35/1 with Bet365
This young Scotsman has really shone in the last few weeks, with a couple of top 10s in Kenya and a 12th place finish last week in Tenerife evidencing his potential. Hill was also 9th here last year in the UK Championship, when closing with an impressive 6-under 66. He fits the profile for success here, as he is no slouch off-the-tee and ranks 25th for SG: Putting this season. Hill also ranked in the top three for GIR in both rounds over the weekend at last year’s event here, so will no doubt have fond memories on his return this time out.
The long shot: Marcus Armitage @ 80/1 with Bet365
Only a couple of weeks on from tipping him last, I am going for ‘The Bullet’ again as I think this type of test is one he will relish. Now back in the UK, on a course where he has a top 10 in his two previous competitive visits, I can see Armitage translating his strong recent form to his first European Tour win. Armitage was 4th in Austria and 10th in Kenya recently, with things appearing to click for the Englishman who went on a similar hot streak at the end of 2020. He can perhaps feel unlucky to have only finished T45 in Gran Canaria, after carding a pair of 64s on his way to an 11-under-par finish, but he certainly seems confident with his golf at present. For that reason, among many others, I like him at this price.
