What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Matt Chivers brings you the low down on the new Puma Ignite Articulate Golf Shoes
You could barely ask for more when slipping on the Puma Men Ignite Articulate golf shoes. They are sturdy and smart and provide a comfortable fit that allows you to play your best golf, no matter what conditions you face during your round.
The Puma Ignite Articulate golf shoes are smart and striking and offer a completely different outlook to a standard pure black golf shoe. The design of this shoe is centred around comfort and versatile performance, which ticks the main boxes of what everyone should be looking for.
PROS
The slip-on construction and geometry make the shoe comfortable
The smart lace closure design looks good and feels good
PU Foam and long-lasting cushioning add to overall comfort
In the past, I have worn all-black golf shoes in the winter months, and sometimes in the summer too. But I abandoned this approach because more colourful golf shoes had more appeal in my eyes. But the Puma Ignite Articulate golf shoes have gone a long way to altering my thought process on this subject, and I discovered this when I opened the box.
At first glance, sure – it is all black. However, the design of this shoe struck me and it wasn’t like the bland and boring all-black golf shoes that I’ve seen before. It is a testament to Puma to create such a compelling golf shoe that incorporates a number of different features to make it stand out from the rest.
I think the laces are stylish. Their black and white colour theme is in contrast to the all-black nature of the entire shoe. This was a touch of class that caught my eye when first looking at the Puma Ignite Articulate golf shoes.
The cushioned flap and the white spikes on the bottom were other features that caught my eye. The spikes stand out on the black bottom and they are also accompanied by a white Puma logo which, for me, was a nice touch to what was a visually appealing shoe at first glance.
On Course Testing
When I slipped these shoes on, I was immediately delighted with the fit. Some golf shoes require you to go a size higher or lower because of their design, but this was far from the case with the Puma Ignite Articulate golf shoes.

The intended slip-on construction of these shoes was evident to see and I would applaud Puma for implementing this feature. The articulation geometry on the upper, midsole and outsole contributed to the overall comfort factor of these Puma golf shoes.
This was clear to feel when I slipped them on and it became even more obvious when I began to walk the course and take my swings. The shoe was no burden on my feet, I had no blisters despite wearing them for the first time, and I’d say they were fairly light on my feet too.
The Ignite PU foam is included to provide a high-energy return and long-lasting cushioning. Time will tell if the Ignite foam cushioning will serve me for a number of years, but if my experience with the shoe so far is anything to go by, I have full confidence in this product.
I won’t pretend that I could feel the benefit of an energy return in the Puma Ignite Articulate golf shoes, but the transition of swinging back and swinging through was aided by the materials in this golf shoe.
I felt confident and comfortable when walking the course with these golf shoes on my feet, and this is essentially all you can ask for. The lace closure for a snug fit and the studded outsole all contribute to the overall feel of the golf shoe.
I enjoyed the stable bottom of the shoe as well. The strong black frame runs along the bottom of this performance golf shoe, and it also goes through the middle of the shoe which, for me, adds to the striking nature. Twinned with the white Puma logo in the middle, I would say there are very few cons to this footwear choice that is suitable for any golfer of any ability and age.
