G/Fore MG4+ Monochrome Golf Shoe Review: NCG Summary

G/Fore MG4+ Monochrome golf shoes
4.5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

These shoes are an excellent purchase.

G/Fore may be known for their style but they are sneakily good at building comfortable golf shoes. These were fantastic straight out of the box into a full 18 hole round of golf.

The MG4+ golf shoes are extremely waterproof and in the Monochrome colour design very easy to clean and an excellent choice of winter footwear.

PROS

  • Great comfort and support
  • Look great with/without waterproof trousers
  • Waterproof

G/Fore MG4+ Monochrome Golf Shoe Review: First Impressions

I am fortunate to be a regular tester of G/Fore shoes. They seem to have blended a mix of old and traditional with new technology and style, which makes them a brand I am into.

The MG4+ golf shoes are more on the modern side in terms of style and tech, but that’s exactly what we need heading into autumn/winter. These shoes are made from premium waterproof TPU with a decently thick sole so I have no doubt they will keep my feet warm and dry.

I really like the monochrome colour way, they are a perfect for winter styling with dark trousers and waterproofs.

When they first go on your feet you feel locked in thanks to the 3d molded external heel design. I like the feeling of being stable when I’m stood up to a shot.

On Course Testing

These shoes were given to me approximately 20 minutes before my 7:15 Sunday morning tee time, and I unhesitantly put them straight on. Aside from the standard, ‘look here he is again with another new pair of shoes’, comments, my playing partners all agree they look brilliant.

Although I am accustomed to the massaging insoles, it’s worth noting that they make the shoe extremely comfortable. These shoes have fully padded mesh interior lining and triple density foam cushion footbed which add to the experience.

With my first tee shot away, I am back in a happy place, striding down the fairway in these MG4+ golf shoes. The autumnal morning dew drenched the outside of these shoes, but my feet remained bone dry. Huge tick in the waterproof category. The soles feel very wide and make me more balanced and stable than normal.

I had absolutely no issue travelling around and playing shots from the various slopes that Sand Moor GC presented me, which some shoes have come unstuck on previously.

My only complaint was a back foot slip on the tee of the par 3 8th hole, where I was trying to muscle a 5 iron to a flag my 4 iron would have reached comfortably. This is as much my fault as the shoes with the early extension being a bad swing fault of mine, but it doesn’t happen when I wear G/Fore’s spiked shoes.

Aside from that, the hybrid knurled & sawtooth traction pattern sole gave me no issues at all for the rest of the round. These shoes offered a combination of lightweight comfort and technical performance.

19th Hole

I have owned these shoes 3 days and on only 1 of those worn them on the course. G/Fore make brilliant spikeless shoes that can be worn on and off the golf course.

I have worn these to stand in all day and teach in, to nip the dog out, into the pub, to the shop and at the golf club, and they are suitable for all occasions.

I’ve not had one strange look, as if they were out of place. 10/10 for versatility.

G/Fore golf shoes

I have no issue recommending these shoes to anyone looking for a lightweight, waterproof pair of golf shoes for this autumn/winter.

They perform very well, are easy to clean, and the TPU will be very durable and will handle anything you throw at them.

I might even get another lighter-coloured pair for spring/summer!
