It feels like G/Fore has momentum in the shoe marketplace. With trends changing from traditional to non-conformist, G/Fore are riding the wave and has built a growing following of golfers who are interested in fashion and design, as well as performance.

The Gallivant2r is a new edition to G/Fore’s shoe lineup in 2024. A completely new design, TPU waterproof upper and are they spiked or spikeless? Find out more in our G/Fore Gallinant2r TPU golf shoe review.

NCG SUMMARY

G/Fore have a shoe for everyone and I think this shoe will tick a lot of golfer’s boxes. They are light, comfortable, and very smart with a dash of their typical non-traditional flair.

I like these shoes to hit balls in, to teach in, to potter around the club in, and to play golf in. The spike/spikeless design is a curious one but once you have hit balls in them they are no longer a worry

PROS

  • Easy to clean
  • Look very smart
  • Love the insoles
  • Very waterproof

CONS

  • I’ll be interested to see how the spikes wear over time

G/Fore Gallivant2r TPU Golf Shoe Review: First Impressions

These shoes are very bright. The white TPU upper, the neon pink soles and the multicoloured spikes all make you want to put the shoes back in the box and save them for a drier period in the year; you don’t want to ruin them in the mud. The shoes are light in hand but have sturdy soles, so they give the impression of stability. They have a navy trim which is a safe bet for my wardrobe, but they are available in some funkier colours for golfers who dare to wear brighter outfits than me.

NCG Verdict

Cards on the table, I am a huge G/Fore fan. Their casual but smart designs just suit my eye, and it’s not just all about the looks, as golf shoes they perform very very well. This is the 4th pair I’ve received, and with each pair, I have been more and more happy. Ever since I literally wore the soles smooth on the Circle G shoes, I’ve been searching for a pair of casual shoes that I can wear off/on the course, in the bar, on the practice ground and anywhere else a golfer might go, and I think the Gallinant2r TPU shoes might be the answer.

The Gallinant2r TPU looks to combine the success of the Gallivanter shoe with the comfort offered in the MG4+ spikeless shoe. These shoes feature a EVA midsole that makes them all day wearable, the comfy washable insoles we all now love from G/Fore, and a waterproof synthetic upper that is super easy to clean and doesn’t crease like leather shoes. They also feature G/Fore’s new G/POD cleat which is presumably to bring the spikeless and spiked shoe crowds together.

I tested these shoes in a round of golf at my home club at Sand Moor, in north Leeds. Sand Moor is pretty hilly, especially into and around the greens, and with some soft areas due to the horrific amount of rain we’ve had in the UK recently, I was really able to put them through their paces.

g/fore golf shoes

To start they were extremely waterproof. Although I may not normally have chosen them to wear in the wet conditions we’ve experienced recently my feet stayed exceptionally dry throughout the round. I thought grip might be an issue with these being a new style of cleat I’ve not tried before, but with 13 G/Pods on the sole, I didn’t struggle for stability at all in my round or since. The soles are much more flexible than the G/Fore Gallivanter G/Lock shoes which might be something that some players prefer.

I love how these and all G/Fore shoes don’t need a break-in, period; you can literally take these straight from the box to the first tee and feel no discomfort at all. I do like some tradition in my appearance, so I’m pleased that they look like golf shoes, but they are casual enough not to get funny looks in the clubhouse.

To me, I do really like these shoes, but they just don’t quite feel as good as the G/Lock shoes I tested and reviewed earlier in the year. I do prefer the feel of spiked shoes and a solid sole, but that is just my preference. You will, however, see me wearing these shoes on and off the course this year as G/Fore have put together another epic shoe in the Gallivant2r TPU.
