First Impressions

Finally, a shoe that ticks that sporty trainer-like box! I love the simplicity of this design and the subtle silver details that Payntr have added. The white and silver design makes these very versatile with a wide array of outfits, and I love how casual they are.

On Course Testing

I have put these shoes through some serious testing, on a variety of golf courses here in the UK. I am a UK size 6, and a size 6 in these fits perfectly. I really like the fact these have a decent width and aren’t as narrow as some women’s golf shoes on the market.

The thing I first noticed about these is just how soft and cushioned they feel underfoot. This is thanks to what Payntr call a single-density PMX foam midsole. This is so soft it almost felt like I was walking on a bed of clouds. This softness comes from a layer of open-cell foam in the footbed. I did wonder if this would fade over time, but this material compresses less than 5% in its lifetime, and so far I have seen no drop in comfort.

Although this isn’t a waterproof model, the clarino microfiber upper is coated with a neverwet superhydrophobic solution to make it water-resistant. I have been in damp grass in these and light showers and my feet have stayed perfectly dry. I do wonder how they would perform in a proper British rainstorm, though.

Now I have to be completely honest, I have never been fully sold on spikeless golf shoes. I love them for practising and friendly golf, but when it comes to a competition, I find myself gravitating back to my trusty spiked shoes in fear of a foot slip out on the course. The Payntr X 003 might just be the shoes to change my mind on this.

The TPU outsole is designed for maximum traction. Three different zones on the zone provide golfers the ability to control linear motion better, resist rotational movement, and more effectively harness vertical ground forces for more powerful shots. It certainly seems to work, I have never felt more comfortable swinging full out in a spikeless shoe model.

My only slight gripe with this shoe is how short the laces are. Luckily, that is easily fixable.

The 19th hole

Given it’s trainer-like appearance, this is a pretty versatile shoe for on and off the golf course, and perfect for wearing in the 19th hole. I am not sure it would make an appearance in a setting out of golf, though, given the sole is

Overall I have really enjoyed testing these Payntr golf shoes. They are certainly one of the most comfortable models on the market without giving up on that all-important performance. You will catch me wearing these a lot this summer.
