It’s fair to say that last year’s Cobra irons were a big success for me personally. I was able to record longer distance than I had ever produced before with a set of irons, which was a welcome surprise.
But that is in the past and the brand has released a new set to pick up the mantle from the DS-Adapts; the King irons.
Distance used to be Cobra’s calling card, sometimes to the point where everything else felt secondary. If you wanted speed, Cobra delivered it in abundance, but control and feel were often left behind.
These 3D printed irons have been developed to help shift that narrative. Whilst they still promise quality distance, they are now more playable than perhaps ever before.
I went over Cyprus, and the beautiful Korineum Golf & Beach Resort, to see if Cobra has worked their magic once more.
The Cobra King irons deliver exactly what modern game-improvement golfers are looking for. They offer exceptional distance, surprisingly high launch, and genuine stopping power.
I think Cobra has successfully moved beyond a pure speed-focused design and created an iron that offers forgiveness and consistency without sacrificing control. For golfers who want help getting the ball in the air and keeping it on the green, I see no reason not to say that the King irons are one of the strongest options in its category.

First Impressions
3D printed irons, I’m not entirely sure what to think of this increasingly popular concept. To try and put what the feeling is like into words, I can only seem to describe it as being this almost honeycomb sensation. Bear with me here.
The 3DP printed insert feels like plastic to me. I’m not smart enough to know the exact science behind it, but I’m still on the fence as to whether I like it or not.
At address, the Cobra King irons inspire confidence immediately. The club head is large, and the strong lofts are visually obvious, particularly in the long irons, where the 5-iron looks closer to a traditional 3-iron.
Despite this, I do like what Cobra has done with the styling. I particularly like the shiny strip that says King on it. It feels very premium to me.
The chrome detailing and bold King branding give the irons a modern and polished appearance.

On the range
The most impressive aspect of the Cobra King irons is how easily they launch the ball, despite their extremely strong lofts. I found the 5-iron produced launch angles in the low teens, but still achieved peak heights close to 96ft, with descent angles exceeding 43°.
This combination resulted in my carry distances pushing beyond 200 yards. This and its ability to still allow the ball to land with enough stopping power to hold greens is an impressive combination.
In the mid-irons, I thought the performance became even more convincing. The 7-iron delivered peak heights over 100 feet, spin rates around 6,300 to 6,500 rpm, and descent angles approaching 47 degrees.
I would typically associate these figures with players’ irons rather than large-headed game-improvement designs.
Short irons continued this trend. Although spin rates were lower than those produced by traditionally lofted irons, peak heights above 110 feet and descent angles near 50 degrees ensured that control into greens was not compromised.
NCG Verdict
Overall, it’s obvious the Cobra King irons represent a clear shift in Cobra’s design philosophy. Distance remains a major strength, but it is now supported by improved launch, height, descent angle, and feel.
But it isn’t just the vast distances that are impressive by these irons. It’s the fact they go a long way with genuine control. For me, this is why they stand out as one of Cobra’s most complete and impressive iron releases in recent years.
