What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Jack Backhouse brings you the low down on Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver.
This is Callaway’s latest low spin driver. The Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond is the driver that you may see on the professional tours this year, being shaped for enhanced speed. But, how does it perform? Read our Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond Driver review to find out!
I loved the feel of this driver, it feels solid at impact and looks fast to look at. Every swing I had with the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond felt as though it had a punch to it.
The driver delivered good ball speed and distance and the new AI face still allows slightly off centred strikes a tight dispersion. Callaway have struck gold with the classic look and I am pleased to see the return of the green colourway.
The first I saw of the driver was at the La Cala Golf Resort and I have to say it looks great. To me it has the look of a driver that you can hit hard and fast, however it doesn’t look distinctly forgiving. I’m a big fan of the classic Callaway look the Elyte has.
A small profile of driver head that certainly suits my eye a lot better than standard or maximum forgiveness drivers. It has a slightly deeper face than other models of drivers and to me it looks more like a players’ club.
Differently to the standard head, the Triple Diamond driver has a gloss carbon finish rather than a matte carbon one which I presume is down to tour feedback. Pros generally like to look down at a more basic and classic styled driver.
The Callaway chevron alignment aid has also been removed to accommodate more accomplished golfers. Although, the lines on the face have remained to help line up the club which I think is beneficial for the non-professionals amongst us especially.
NCG Verdict
This is the driver I would most likely be fit into if I were to undergo a Callaway custom fitting.
From the first swing the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond felt fast. It felt solid at contact and is if there was more punch behind the strikes, which I think is really desirable in a driver.
I did tinker around with the weight in the head of the driver, in moving it forward, to elevate the ball flight for a greater carry and lower spin rate. You can see this in the data graphic above, my third strike went considerably further, reach an impressive height and spun a lot less.

Callaway have a really efficient loft sleeve which allows the golfer to change the loft and lie angle of the driver independently of one another. This makes for a better custom fitting. On the back of the new heads there are weight ports that are also moveable to accommodate different ball flights.
Those strikes in the graphic were hit fairly centrally out of the face of the driver but you can tell when the strike is slightly off the toe the club is doing some work for you. That’s the Ai 10X face helping the ball go straight and long.
Callaway say that this new face technology is 10 times more precise than their previous AI Smart Face. This helps to deliver a tight dispersion to get the ball in play and an unmatched spin consistency.
Overall, this was a competitively fast, long and low spinning driver option. For those golfer who prefer a smaller driver head and a lower ball flight then this could be the driver for you. I think this has a lot of promise to deliver optimal launch for optimal distance. The Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond is certainly a contender for my bag this year.
