Looking to update your golfing wardrobe? Nicola Slater has put the OceanTee Women’s Reef Polo to the test

    Ocean Tee Women's Reef Polo

Ocean Tee is constantly expanding its women’s apparel range. The Reef Polo is one of their latest autumn winter pieces. So how does it perform?

Ocean Tee Women’s Reef Polo review: First Impressions

Ocean Tee is a relatively new brand on the golfing scene. Fabrics such as polyester and nylon contain plastic, which are often the main materials used in golf apparel. This is not the case with Ocean Tee. All their products are created using environmentally friendly materials and methods.

The polo is made from Tencel fibres, which are a product of raw sustainably sourced wood. These are blended with Merino wool which creates a soft yet stretchy texture. This all happens in the only Greenpeace-approved facility in Europe.

Looks wise the polo offers a simple design which has a casual feel. The OceanTee logo isn’t overpowering. Located on the sleeve the colour changes to match the colour of each top which works really well.

I tested the purple polo and thought that the colour was very nice, certainly different to any other top I already own. If you’re after different colour options OceanTee also offers the reef polo in two other colours, teal or black.

Ocean Tee Women’s Reef Polo review: On The Course

I really enjoyed wearing this top out on the course. I am 5ft 8 and wear a UK 12 top. I found that medium was fairly tight fitting in comparison to some other brands. However, the lightweight breathable material allowed for a good amount of flexibility, meaning that it didn’t impact my swing at all. When swinging the polo felt soft on and there were no annoying labels to cause irritation as the sizing and washing instructions are printed on.

The Tencel fibres combined with the merino wool create a polo which is anti-odour and temperature regulating. With a base layer underneath the polo still performed well due to how lightweight it is. Whilst it is not hot enough to test this in the heat, the polo dried very quickly after washing suggesting that it would handle those sweaty summer rounds well.

Ocean Tee Women’s Reef Polo review: The 19th hole

Personally, I wouldn’t wear a polo shirt off the golf course however there is no reason why it can’t be. With no large overpowering logos, it could definitely be worn in a non-golf setting. However, coming in at £69.99 it’s certainly more on the pricey side for a relatively plain polo shirt.

    Fit: True to Size/Small/Large
    Comfort: 8/10
    Value for Money: 6.5/10
    Sizes: XS-XL
    Colours: Purple, Teal or Black.
