What’s new? How much does it cost? Max McVittie brings you the lowdown on the new Mizuno Pro T-1 and T-3 wedges.
Mizuno have released the T-1 and T-3 wedges as part of their Mizuno Pro range. The brand believe these are the best feeling wedges they have crafted, being engineered for precision and versatility.
The signature Mizuno elegance is evident in these clubs which offer top level feel and control for golfers of all ability.
Here’s how Mizuno have perfected precision in the Pro T-1 and T-3 wedges…
Mizuno Pro T-1 and T-3 Wedges: The Technology
Both models are equipped with Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forged HD process that combine 1025 Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel with a Carbon Underlay. This helps to provide the classic, renowned Mizuno feel that allows each shot to be as precise as possible and deliver strong, buttery feedback for the golfer.
In terms of the shaping and craftsmanship. The Mizuno Pro T-1 wedge is crafted to contain a compact teardrop shape with a straighter leading ledge to create a visually appealing look at both address and in the bag style. This design is to enhance the precision, turf interaction for better ball contact and a more confidence-inspiring look for golfers to feel comfortable standing over the ball.
Whereas, the Mizuno Pro T-3 wedge has a shallow cavity back design. This means the wedges have increased head length for added stability and forgiveness. Golfers are able to have a more consistent performance and control off strikes from all over the club face not just cleanly struck shots.
Each wedge model is also offered in different sole profiles with the T-1 wedge available in six whilst the T-3 wedges are available in three different sole profiles. The different soles for the T-1 wedges are to make sure there is an ideal option and fit for all different styles of wedge play, as well as the various course conditions each golfer plays in. Mizuno believe each grind option offers great versatility for a range of different shots varying from green side chips to full swings. The P sole offers additional bounce.

As for the T-3 wedges, the different soles of these wedges are also designed for similar purposes. Likewise they are to cater towards different playing styles to help optimise the versatility of all types of shots.
Other technological inclusions are to help improve spin consistency in any and all conditions. Both models feature Quad Cut + Grooves and Hydroflow micro Grooves. These face technologies are designed to provide exceptional spin control in all weather conditions. This happens as a result of the tighten grooves increases spin rates whilst the hydro flow technology works to manoeuvre moisture away for most consistent results.
The stronger lofted clubs in the ranges focus on spin consistency for more predictable reactions on the greens, whilst the higher lofted wedges look to maximise the spin; better for higher handicap golfers.
