The Under Armour Drive Pro Clone is a genuinely innovative golf shoe that delivers outstanding comfort, stability and traction. Its auxetic upper (thicker when stretched and thinner when compressed) adapts to the shape of your foot during play before returning to its original form, offering a near custom-fit feel straight out of the box. Combined with excellent grip in wet conditions and a noticeably improved aesthetic, this is one of the most impressive performance golf shoes currently available.

First Impressions
If we’re being honest, Under Armour golf shoes haven’t always been pleasing on the eyes. But the Drive Pro Clone is a significant step forward from its less attractive siblings.
Like with all Under Armour shoes they adopt a sporty styling. They feel different and not like any other golf shoes I have previously worn, particularly more traditional ones.
Straight out of the box, the Drive Pro Clone feels unlike a traditional golf shoe, extremely soft and doesn’t require any break-in time.
Where many performance golf shoes feel stiff initially, Under Armour has made this feel accommodating from the first step. It felt very natural playing golf in this, almost like the shoe is moving with you rather than resisting you.
NCG Verdict
Despite only just being released, they have already claimed a couple of victories on tour. Patrick Reed recently won on the DP World Tour in a pair and it’s not hard to see why he opted to rock a pair in Dubai.
Let’s start off with the positives. The grip is without doubt the biggest plus point and standout feature of the Drive Pro Clones.
The conditions I tried them out in were far from favourable, with the golf course being considerably wet out in Portugal of all places. There was no reprieve from the rain and gloomy weather for me, even in mainland Europe.

I’m a big believer that comfort is king, when it comes to golf shoes. These are certainly comfortable, which is further enhanced by dual-density cushioning.
The softer foam on the inside for better comfort and firmer foam on the outside for increased stability and more effective weight transfer through the swing.
It’s a clever balance Under Armour has struck with this and one, I found during longer rounds this was where they excelled.
Although, these aren’t as versatile as other golf shoes with their off-course capabilities. But let’s face it, most of us only wear our golf shoes when playing golf and they are very impressive on the course.
I opted to go with the spiked version, but there is a spikeless option available if that is what you prefer.
