First Impressions

The first thing I noticed was that the Titleist GT1 Fairway Wood has a larger 180cc footprint than the other Titleist GT fairway woods. It helps to make it one of the most confidence-inspiring fairway woods on the market. I think the size is reminiscent of the TSR2+, giving players a higher MOI (moment of inertia) and a flatter profile for improved stability.

Titleist GT1 Fairway Wood Review

At address, I found the GT1 sits square and inviting, with a shape that suits both higher handicap players looking for confidence and better players who need a reliable fairway wood. The sound at impact is hot and powerful, a reassuring “crack” that signals an explosive ball speed.

NCG Review

I think one of the most impressive characteristic of the GT1 is how effortlessly it launches. Even on off-centre strikes, the MOI and low centre of gravity ensure high, towering shots with consistent carry distances.

During testing, some of my shots were reaching 90-100 feet in peak height. This allows the GT1 to be an ideal choice for attacking greens on long par-5s. For players who struggle to elevate a fairway wood, this club offers a game-changing solution.

The GT1 is designed for a higher launch with lower spin. Players who need a combination of forgiveness and strong carry numbers will likely be able to feel these benefits the most.

As you can see from the data below, the ball speeds were extremely consistent, even on slight mishits. Spin rates impressively hovered around the 4000 RPM mark, providing great stopping power without excessive ballooning.

Additionally, carry distances averaged around 235-245 yards, with roll-out extending to over 260 yards on solid strikes. This was an extremely positive return for me with a fairway wood.

With the adjustable weight system, golfers can fine-tune launch and spin by shifting weight forward or backward. A heavier front weight enables a lower spin, while a rear-biased setup maximises forgiveness.

Titleist GT1 Fairway Wood Review

One of the most exciting aspects of the GT1 Fairway Wood is its versatility. It excelled off the tee for me as well as from the fairway, and even from the rough. This is partly thanks to its flatter sole design and high-MOI stability.

Players looking for a high-launching, straight-flying fairway wood will love the GT1’s ability to hold its line and maintain consistent ball speeds, even on mishits.

The Verdict

Overall, I think the Titleist GT1 Fairway Wood is a must-try for golfers who need high launch, effortless forgiveness, and maximum consistency. It’s incredibly easy to hit, offers top-tier ball speed retention, and provides one of the highest-launching three-woods in the game.

During testing, it was noticeable that the GT1 stood out as the best option for players needing height, forgiveness, and an easy-to-launch three-wood.

If you’ve been searching for a fairway wood that feels powerful, looks great, and performs under pressure, the GT1 is an absolute winner.
