However, that doesn’t mean performance or the use of technology has been substituted. Wilson has enabled a thin-cast steel crown to improve distribution in order to position the centre of gravity lower and further back in the club head. This has helped to promote a more stable design than previous generations.
Something to note in comparison to other fairway woods, is that there is no adjustability available to the golfer in the hosel. This acts as a bit of a cost saving exercise to allow Wilson to drop the price to be more budget friendly. It also means that players won’t be able to adapt the lie angle and loft to maximise performance.
However, Wilson has made this club available in both a 5-wood and a 7-wood as well as the standard 3-wood. Golfers have plenty of options to utilise a fairway wood be suited to their game. For example, if the 3-wood has a too low of a ball flight players can switch to a 5-wood.
Throughout testing the club produce a really nice, straight ball flight from decent lunches. For me this club prevent the perfect elevation. It didn’t balloon the ball in the air like some other fairway woods I tested but still exuded enough elevation for a sufficient carry.
Wilson have included a big tungsten weight at the back of the club head to ensure this. A rear weight of 12g ensures golfers can utilise a more forgiving and easier high launch club.
There was also a good amount of spin produced and I was averaging distances of around 240 yards total. This was a good return for me and my game and there is certainly plenty of performance on offer.
Overall, the Wilson Dynapwr MAX fairway wood offers a great value for money option. A really forgiving club that delivers straight ball flights consistently from a playable club. Most of us golfers tend to keep our fairway woods in our bags and can be one of the least used clubs. So, having an easy to hit wood in the bag is a sensible option.

La Cala Resort
We were fortunate enough to head out to the La Cala Resort in Spain to conduct some of our equipment reviews. A picturesque resort that is located in the Sierra de Mijas, just 30 minutes from Málaga Airport and 20 minutes from Marbella.
