I found this 3-wood really confidence-inspiring. It provides high launch, powerful strikes and help with off centre strikes.
This is perfect for players who want something that provides maximum distance and forgiveness off both the tee and fairway.

Over the ball, this has a classic Titleist styling. I love the all-black gloss look and the fact the club head is elegant and simple. This model is designed for forgiveness, so it has a larger profile which I think is very confidence-inspiring over the ball. The larger shaping especially looks great when hitting off a tee.
I first tested this at the Titleist Performance Centre at Woburn Golf Club. To be completely honest, I’m not the biggest fan of fairway woods as I always feel they are going to be hard to launch. Straight away the ball flight I was getting on all my shots was excellent, even my mis-strikes had a really nice height on them. You can see across a range of strikes my launch angle stayed very consistent.
The club face was very efficient, I was getting great ball speeds and carry distances from my club head speed. My average carry distance came out at 213 yards, about 13 yards longer than my 5-wood which works really nicely in terms of gapping. It is easy to add or reduce loft with the adjustable hosel should you need to add or reduce some distance.
Compared to the TSR3, my off-centre strikes flew straighter, which is crucial for a larger section of club golfers. My spin also stayed high enough so the ball didn’t drop out of the air and lose crucial carry distance.
Since then, I have put this in play and got it out on the golf course in a 72-hole tournament. This has a larger profile than my previous Titleist TSi3 3-wood, and I much preferred this when hitting off the tee. It feels more driver-like and is more forgiving on off-centre strikes. This gave me more confidence to hit this on tight tee shots where I would generally hit less club, meaning I could get further down the fairway.

I was really impressed with how powerful the strike is and how good the ball speed and carry distance are both off the deck and off the tee. In one round, I reached a flat 544-yard Par-5 in two by hitting 3-wood off the tee and then again from the fairway. This club is seriously powerful!
I was a bit worried that the faster ball speeds with this would affect how well I could control the ball into the greens. Even though it is powerful, I generated enough height and land angle, meaning I could quickly stop the ball on the green.
The bigger club head does mean you are giving some element of workability up, but for me, consistent distance and strike are much more important than this.
Overall I have really loved testing this out and ultimately it has gone straight into my golf bag – it was easy to hit. This is going to be a hard fairway wood to beat!
