The launch of TaylorMade drivers are always highly anticipated. This is TaylorMade’s latest low spin driver, built for ultimate performance. So, does the TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver live up to the success of its predecessor? Find out in our TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver review…
A different feeling driver to most on the market. The weight ports of the back make the head feel strong at impact to ping the golf ball off the face.
This is a driver that has been designed with the upmost care. Detailing has been included that we wouldn’t even consider and as I sit here now I have probably still missed some of it. A classic compact shaping that delivers top quality performance, feel and looks.
The profile is compact and small, that of a tour-preferred look. There is a classic shaping to the head of the driver, very similar to what we have seen throughout the Stealth line-ups and previous Qi generations.
Tour players love this style of driver and is what you would see in with TaylorMade tour golfers.
As with the core model of the Qi35 driver the aerodynamic deign details on the bottom of the club are visible. In addition there are three moveable weights, a 13g weight and two 3g weights. Golfers are able to tweak these in order to dial in to their preferred ball flight and shot type.
The actual detailing put into this driver is phenomenal. It’s impressive how smoothly the face is aligned within the driver, fitting to less than half a millimetre. TaylorMade have put unwavering care and attention into these, what most people would perceive as minuscule details.
Everything consider, I think this is such an attractive driver head. I personally have no issue with the grey colouring and enjoy the carbon detailing.
NCG Verdict
I absolutely love this driver. Towards the back end of last year I visited the TaylorMade headquarters in California, where I was presented with and fitted into the new Qi range.
Tech wise TaylorMade have what’s called a ‘Beast Mode’ setting. This is when the 13g weight is in the toe position -that is the lowest spinning set up that is designed for the fastest hitters and best players.
Let’s jump into some data and asses how I found the TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver. Interestingly all three of my shots during testing spun a lot for my swing, which contradicts the further testing I had in California.

Good ball speed, decent spin and very happy with the performance. You can see from the dispersion graphic just how consistent the performance of this driver is. The first two shots virtually landed at the exact same distance on the same line.
The ball flight is also unbelievably consistent and repetitive. It’s invaluable for golfers to have a driver that they can trust to find the fairways in all the right spots. That is exactly what I had in the TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver every strike was a lovely, buttery fade.
Out of all the other brands I have tested, I do think this driver feels a lot different. This is due to the amount of carbon in the head, a carbon face has a completely different feel. The addition of these weight ports makes the weight in the head feel stronger to make the contact with the ball seem more solid despite it being light to swing. To me this is a sign of quality.
Overall, this driver offers plenty of distance. The levels of consistency was first class, there wasn’t even five yards of difference between my longest and shortest drives. These shots were also from three different map points on the face of the driver, making the accuracy and distance consistency even more impressive.
It was no surprise that this was the biggest hitting driver out of the Qi35 range. I think this is a fantastic low spin option and with how hard TaylorMade have gone into the fitting of their clubs in the Qi35 range, this driver could work for you.
