Three is the magic number for Odyssey’s new putters

Callaway have added their Triple Track technology to their Odyssey putters for 2020. Our gear expert takes a closer look

Odyssey Triple Track

This is one of the new launches I have been most excited for. Not only do these putters look great, the idea behind them just makes so much sense. So let’s take a look at the new Odyssey Triple Track putters…

Odyssey Triple Track putters: First impressions

Straight off you understand the story behind these clubs. The three lines are really striking and give you a great visual for alignment especially when used with the Triple Track ball.

I don’t think most golfers realise a) how bad their alignment is, or b) how important it is for good putting. The improvements most golfers will see in their putting by using these putters will be huge.

My favourite model in the range is definitely the two ball mallet. It sits great behind the ball and looks great when paired with the Triple Track ball.

Odyssey Triple Track putters: The technology

Initially developed for Callaway’s golf ball, Triple Track lines are used to increase accuracy by making you line up better for more consistent alignment, a key fundamental to good putting.

The putters feature the same multi-material putter shaft we have seen in the rest of the Stroke Lab range. The Stroke Lab shaft is a full 40 grams lighter, made possible by an innovative new multi-material design, that combines a graphite body with a steel tip. Most of the mass is concentrated in the tip but there’s two sole weights in the head and more added to the end of the grip.

Odyssey say the effect of this weight distribution is improvements in the consistency of backswing time, face-angle at impact, ball speed, and ball direction. They also feature the new micro-hinge star insert for tour preferred roll benefits but with a slightly firmer feel and improved sound from previous models.
