The new Titleist GT range has already made quite the impression in the golfing world, even before its release date to the public. In impressive fashion, the GT is already the most used driver on tour.
Two of The Open’s standout performers, last week, had a variation of the new Titleist driver in the bag. Justin Rose and Billy Horschel, whom both had to settle for second place, switched to the GT3 9.0 models. Horschel made the change up its launch at the Memorial Tournament in June, whilst the Englishman put the Titleist GT3 in play at the Scottish Open. A move that very nearly had the dream desire a week later. So what’s new? Let’s take a deep dive…
Titleist GT: The Technology
Titleist’s GT metals are the brand’s latest development in gaining more speed off the tee. GT itself stands for ‘generational technologies,’ which Titleist has prided itself on being the force behind its new products. Technological features of the GT models include a Seamless Thermoform Crown. This new crown is made from a proprietary matrix polymer, which is a first in golf.
Titleist say this will allow for more distance being gained with the big stick, whilst still offering the same level of forgiveness. This is because this crown is much lighter than the previous titanium offering which allows Titleist to reposition weight lower and on the perimeter of the club head.
The new GT range are targeted at a range of golfing abilities. Although, they are Tour-inspired, driven by the feedback some of the best golfers in the world, the end product is an aide for all golfers.
The technological advances don’t stop there. An enhanced Speed Ring VFT Face gives the GT drivers their fast face to increase speed. Titleist say this remains a constant no matter where you hit the ball on the club face.

Sounds like the perfect recipe. Distance and forgiveness. Titleist claim that the “Generational Technology” used in the GT drivers result in a faster, more accurate, and more playable driver. Based from the reaction on Tour, and the take up of the new driver, it may be hard to argue.
As well as drivers and fairways, Titleist have released hybrids to complete the GT range. They have released one in each model which Titleist believe offer the ultimate CG control for added speed and stability.
Titleist’s GT metals offer a model for everyone, no matter your ability, there is seemingly a driver, fairway wood and hybrid for you.
Titleist GT Drivers: The Line-up
The Titleist GT driver range features four unique models: GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4. Each model offers a different performance incentive and is suitable for different levels of golfers.
Titleist GT1 Driver
Looks: Has improved aerodynamic shaping for quicker ball and clubhead speed. Equipped with a refined crown and sole shape curvatures and a shallower face depth.
Main attributes: Designed to have the deepest centre of gravity in the GT line-up, from an ultra-lightweight construction, which helps to deliver effortless speed and added forgiveness with high-launching, mid-spin carry.
Who is it for?: For golfers with more moderate swing speeds, but also ideal for any player looking to launch the ball higher and maintain their spin rate.
Titleist GT2 Driver
Looks: Designed to have a confidence inspiring look. Clubface is marginally smaller to that of the previous ‘2’ generation models. Features a more traditional pear shape.
Main attributes: The GT2 driver is designed for those who prefer a more forgiving but fast driver. This remains a constant even for strikes that don’t come off the centre of the face. Provides effortlessly high speed.
Who is it for?: For those who struggle to hit the ball consistently off the middle of the club head.

Titleist GT3 Driver
Looks: Shape is more aerodynamic compared to the TSR3. Shape appears more compact and pear-shaped than the GT2.
Main attributes: Designed for maximum adjustability and fast ball speed.
Who is it for?: For those who are looking to have more control over their ball flight. Also, for gaining more distance.
Titleist GT4 Driver
Looks: The GT4 driver has a smaller club head than the other two models. Has a 430cc driver head.
Main Attributes: Designed to create a more penetrating and efficient ball flight. Can choose between a more aggressive spin rate reduction or a more balanced setting.
Who is it for?: For those who usually generate a spin rate of over 3,000 RPM and want to lower it.
Titleist GT Fairway Woods: The Line-up
Like the drivers, Titleist’s new fairway wood range offers multiple models: GT1, GT2 and GT3.
Titleist GT1 Fairway Wood
Looks: Have a shallower face profile than other models for better playability off the turf
Main Attributes: Designed to be a fast swinging club this fairway wood is equipped with a lightweight shaft and a lightweight grip. Like the driver option, this has the deepest CG in the GT line-up with a maximised inertia for improved stability and increased launch.
Who is it for?: For golfers looking for extra distance from strikes off the ground and it’s adjustable weighting always it to be utilised be a variety of different swing types.
Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood
Looks: Has a shallower club face than the GT3.
Main Attributes: Designed to deliver a high level of forgiveness, a high ball flight, and low spin.
Who is it for?: Golfers who have a shallower angle of attack and sweep the golf ball.
Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood
Looks: Smaller, deeper club head.
Main Attributes: It is designed to offer maximum adjustability and help control the ball flight. It also offers fast speed to help with distance.

Who is it for?: For golfers who hit down on the ball more and have a steeper angle of attack.
Titleist GT Hybrids: The Line-up
recently added to the GT range, the hybrids are offered in three models; GT1, GT2 and the GT3.
Titleist GT1 Hybrid
Looks: A more confidence inspiring look with a slightly wider face. Also has enhanced perimeter weighting and a deeper CG substantially improve high-MOI performance.
Main Attributes: Designed to produce a quick ball speed, high launch and mid-spin performance from n ultra-lightweight construction.
Who is it for?: For moderate swing speed players and golfers looking for effortless distance from various lies.
Titleist GT2 Hybrid
Looks: A flatter, more playable sole design, sleeker profile, and new heel-toe CG adjustability. This provides the added forgiveness.
Main Attributes: Designed to be more forgiving as it has the highest total inertia of any Titleist hybrid. New adjustable heel-toe weights enable further optimisation of speed, launch, and directional control to achieve incredibly fast and forgiving hybrid performance.
Who is it for?: For golfers looking for a higher launch and more forgiving replacement for their long iron.
Titleist GT3 Hybrid
Looks: Has a a refined iron-like hybrid design, GT3 packs tremendous workability and forgiveness in a compact, player-preferred shape.
Main Attributes: Designed to deliver superior hybrid power, mid/high flight, and enhanced forgiveness.
Who is it for?: For golfers who want more workability from their hybrid.
