Editor’s Picks: My favourite Open venues
My favourite Open venues: No 4 – St Andrews
The Old Course: The best and the worst place to watch the Open simultaneously. As is well documented, it is really not a good viewing curse at all, with no spectators allowed in the middle of the course. It’s also, by a million miles, the most atmospheric Open venue. And when the Open is at St Andrews it just feels like everyone who is anyone in golf is in town. It’s amazing who you bump into. I think it would be even higher if we didn’t go back just a little too often.
