Matt Wallace entered the final round of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland with a four-shot lead and finally won the tournament in a playoff against Alfredo Garcia-Heredia.
It was six years since he’d won on the DP World Tour at the Made in Denmark. In 2018, Wallace also won at the BMW International Open and the Hero Indian Open.
In the meantime, Wallace did become a PGA Tour winner at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic, and he is now a five-time winner on the DP World Tour.
He has been one of the most consistent performers on the continent in recent years. He has previously excelled at the majors too, coming tied for third at the 2019 PGA Championship.
He mentioned the Ryder Cup after winning the event in Crans Montana, which will no doubt be the Englishman’s target in 2025. He has never played in the event for Team Europe and he perfectly started the qualification process at Crans-sur-Sierre.
