When are the Ryder Cup wildcard picks announced?

It’s a question we get a lot – particularly on social media. (Do you follow us on Twitter? You should…)

USA captain Jim Furyk is up first. He will announce the first three of his four captain’s picks on Tuesday September 4 at 10pm BST, live on Twitter.

Team Europe skipper Thomas Bjorn will then announce all four of his picks on Wednesday September 5 at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Golf.

Furyk will then confirm his final pick on Monday September 10 at 2pm BST following the conclusion of the BMW Championship.

Just give me the dates…

Fine. Put these in your diary:

September 4, 10pm: USA captain Jim Furyk announces three wildcard picks
September 5, 2018, 2pm: Europe captain Thomas Bjorn announces all four of his picks
September 10, 2pm: Furyk announces fourth and final pick

And when is the Ryder Cup itself?

The 42nd edition of the Ryder Cup Matches will take place from September 28-30 at Le Golf National in Paris. We went to play it recently and you can read that here.

So who will the captains pick?

Both Bjorn and Furyk have tight-knit teams of assistants and advisors and no one outside those groups really knows.

It is expected Bjorn’s four will come from seven: Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, Paul Casey, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Thomas Pieters and Matt Wallace.

Furyk is largely expected to take Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, with the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau, Kevin Kisner and Xander Shaufelle in the running, as well as Ryder Cup veterans Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson.

The NCG team have had a pretty good go at guessing who will get the nod, and you can read that here.

I want to read more about the Ryder Cup

Well, you’re in luck. We have a website completely dedicated to the greatest team event in golf – if not all sport. You can find that here.
