The Algarve’s best-kept secret

Welcome to a haven of tranquility in the western Algarve

THE Algarve is where golf holidays basically began. It remains a mecca for the travelling swinger.  And away from the hustle and bustle of this golf haven’s biggest resorts is the award-winning Parque da Floresta.

Set in the western Algarve, close to the most south-westerly tip of Europe and the historic town of Sagres, rolling hills, golden beaches, timeless fishing villages and unspoilt countryside have led it to be described as “one of golf’s hidden gems” by Peter Alliss.

This luxury resort is made up of a collection of sumptuous villas and charming village houses that surround its centrepiece, the imaginatively designed 18-hole, par 71 course.

Recent investment from the Vigia Group has seen the manicuring and re-shaping of many original holes and when combined with some of the most spectacular scenery in Portugal, it is easy to see why it is now being billed as one of Europe’s most picturesque.

Measuring 6,110 yards from the white tees, its varying holes run along valleys, past eucalyptus covered ravines, flanked by olive, palm and pine trees and with no two holes remotely similar, the variety and appeal is endless.

The high standard of the course has also helped it to attract the end of season PGA EuroPro Tour Championships and former England goalkeeper David Seaman’s star studded annual Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic.

This luxury resort is made up of a collection of sumptuous villas and charming village houses that surround its centrepiece, the imaginatively designed 18-hole, par-71 course.
Aside from the resort’s own academy, golf is not the sole focus and Parque da Floresta is a great all round family destination.

Qualities such as its leading health and beauty spa, gymnasium and full range of sports and leisure activities, games bar, kids’ club, five bars and restaurants and friendly ambience mean it has become a flourishing destination.

But just like its location in the heart of the western Algarve, Parque da Floresta is a gem waiting to be discovered.
