TaylorMade unveil R11S fairway
TaylorMade have launched their most adjustable fairway ever.
The R11S, which accompanies the revolutionary driver of the same name, features a new Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP) and Flight Control Technology (FCT) sleeve to offer 24 different combinations of face angle, loft and lie.
This allows users to fine-tune their ball flight in fittings or simply eradicate a bad shot they suffer from. For example, if you struggle with a slice, you can straighten it by closing the face using the ASP.
If you want to hit the ball higher or lower without changing your swing, you can, too – simply increase or decrease the loft (you can change it up to 3°) using the FCT.
The R11S, unlike many previous TaylorMade fairway woods and others currently on the market, features a forward centre of gravity. The brand’s research suggested that placing weight low and deep launched the ball high but actually increased spin. Where TaylorMade’s engineers have positioned it offers a good launch with less spin. This, coupled with a thin, powerful face offers lots of distance.
“It’s never been easier to tune performance in a fairway wood than with the new R11S,” said TaylorMade Executive Vice President Sean Toulon.
“We’re confident that more golfers than ever before will unlock significant performance gains through a proper fitting and a few clicks of the wrench. The technologies we’ve incorporated into this clubhead are unparalleled.”
