Scottish Open betting tips and fantasy golf picks
The Scottish Open always attracts a stellar field as many of the world’s best prepare for The Open the following week.
But the biggest name, Rory McIlroy, will not be teeing it up at Gullane this week after rupturing his ankle ligaments playing football.
The world number one is a serious doubt for The Open so it may be time to transfer him out of your Fantasy Golf team.
Defending champion Justin Rose is the bookies favourite at 11/1 with Phil Mickelson 16/1 and Rickie Fowler 18/1 close behind.
Mickelson and Rose both secured their victories away from this year’s venue which played host to Open final qualifying in 2013.
England’s Matt Fitzpatrick was one of the qualifiers on that occasion and can be backed this week at very appealing odds of around 100/1.
Fellow Englishman who have been in decent form of late are Tommy Fleetwood and Andy Sullivan who can be backed at 45/1 and Tyrell Hatton who is available at 66/1.
Chris Wood is another who catches the eye with reasonable odds of 66/1.
If you fancy a Scottish native then check out Ritchie Ramsay at 55/1, form horse James Morrison at 50/1 and Marc Warren at 60/1.
Steven Gallacher has been struggling for form over the past 12 months but may find his A-game on home soil. The Ryder Cup star is available at odds of up to 100/1.
If you are looking to front-load your Fantasy Golf team with some ’big guns’ from across the Atlantic then Jimmy Walker (28/1), Brooks Koepka (30/1) and Matt Kuchar (30/1) are all in action this week.
