Hundreds of young golfers set to benefit from donation by Trump International Golf.

Scotland: Young golfers come up Trumps

Young golfers who take part in the ClubGolf programme in the north east of Scotland are set to benefit after a donation of 15,000 golf balls.

Trump International Golf Links has donated the balls to 17 clubs to allow youngsters to practise and develop their skills.

Head PGA Professional at Trump International, Christopher Campbell, said: “We are delighted to offer support to junior golf at a grass roots level and to be able to work with ClubGolf Scotland. This donation will benefit the upcoming players and we hope will lead to growing the game within Scotland.”

‘It’s fantastic for a small club like ours’ Among those benefitting is Alford, on whose behalf ClubGolf coaching coordinator Colin Hood accepted the donation. He said: “We’re delighted to accept these range balls which will benefit the children going through the programme at the moment.

“It will allow us to continuously practice during the season without having to stop and collect the limited number of balls we have and so we will be able to spend more time concentrating on coaching.”

Neil Anderson from Rothes added: “It’s fantastic for a small club like ours to be gifted any training equipment, as all fund-raising activities for the junior section take a lot of time. This means we can spend our limited finances on other equipment to benefit the coaching programme.

“Like all golf clubs, we have youngsters of varying levels of ability and these better quality balls will be used for short game, in particular, to help the lower handicap players who have aspirations to take their golf to a higher level. For those juniors, going to Menie Estate to accept the donation, it can only inspire them further to see such a top quality course.”
