The Day at the Ryder Cup – Talking point: Crowd shouting and Rory gets a fan evicted.
Everyone loves a good atmosphere at a sports event, as long as it doesn’t go too far. The atmosphere at Hazeltine today was flirting with going too far. Fans crying out random words or phrases after every shot got old very quickly.
But then things turned really ugly when a spectator shouted something insulting to Mcllory. The Northern Irishman confronted the fan and officials evicted the man from the course.

The Day at the Ryder Cup – Shot of the day: Patrick Reed’s eagle on the 6th in the fourballs.
A thing of beauty from an outstanding player.

The Day at the Ryder Cup – Player/s of the day: Rory Mcllory and Thomas Pieters.
Europe’s answer to Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, the duo were in scintillating form. They saw off the challenge of Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler in the morning foursomes and then swept aside Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson in the afternoon fourball matches.
The Day at the Ryder Cup – Best rookie: Thomas Pieters once again.
The young Belgian is the find of the Ryder Cup. One to watch for the future.
The Day at the Ryder Cup – Worst player/s: Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood.
German Martin Kaymer is not having the best of Ryder Cups at Hazeltine. Yet to pick up a point in three matches.
Westwood is zero for two so far and looks desperately out of form. Missed an easy putt in the fourball match against J.B Holmes and Ryan Moore.
The Day at the Ryder Cup – Worst pairing: Martin Kaymer and Sergio Garcia.
Everyone was left perplexed when Darren Clarke chose to break up Spanish duo Sergio Garcia and Rafa Carbrera Bello after they came from 4 down against Spieth and Reed to halve the morning foursomes. An error that may come back to haunt Clarke.
Should Russell Knox have been one of Clarke’s picks? Yes is the answer.
The Day at the Ryder Cup – Most interesting outfit: Wrestling masks.
Would these puppies help muffle screams from the crowd? If so, let’s get them mass produced and handed out to spectators for tomorrow’s singles!
The Day at the Ryder Cup – Best commentator comment: Butch Harmon
Jordan Spieth fires a routine approach shot into the bunker. Butch Harmon comments: “I must say that was not a good shot by Jordan Spieth.” Thank goodness you were there to point that out, Butch.
