NCG takes on the One Club Challenge
We took on the One Club Challenge at Rudding Park in Yorkshire. The contestants were NCG trio James Savage, Mark Townsend and Christian Maiden.
What is the One Club Challenge?
The rules were very simple. Each player had to pick one club to use from the tee and then use that same club for every shot until they had got the ball in the hole.
The hole in question was the 360-yard par-4 19th at Rudding Park.
Which clubs did we select?
James opted for a 22 degree Ping G400 hybrid using the logic that it would be the best to putt with.
Mark plumped for his Ping i25 7-iron because it’s the only iron he’s happy hitting and thought he’d be able to chip with it.
Christian selected his TaylorMade P790 5-iron on the basis he could get it on the green comfortably in two shots. And he couldn’t find his 6-iron.
Who won the One Club Challenge?
All three players had difficulty off the tee on the very tight hole which dog-legs round to the left.
All three players basically went too long and too straight and had to play their second shots from the trees.
Mark was the luckiest as had a line to the green and a decent lie so was able to fire his 7-iron straight at the flag.
James and Christian were forced to lay-up, twice but were both safely on the green in four.
You’ll have to watch the video to find out who won…
Stay tuned for more challenges from Rudding Park over the coming weeks.
