Greenkeepers chopping down trees at Scarborough South Cliff found a ball that had been literally lost inside a tree.
Club secretary Shaun Smith said greenskeepers had been chopping up trees from between the 2nd and 3rd fairways when they came across the ball.
‘The ball was literally inside the tree’ He added: “We think the tree has been growing around the ball for up to 15 years. So this gives a hole new meaning to ‘My ball is in the trees’ as the ball was literally ‘inside’ a tree.”
Scarborough South Cliff is undertaking a series of improvements to the Dr Alister MacKenzie-designed course as it prepares to host the 2015 National Golf Championship in partnership with Ganton, and the 2016 English amateur championship, again with Ganton.
