Ping reveal new i25 range of drivers, woods and irons

Ping’s stylish new i25 range will offer the benefits of adjustability, the looks that better players demand and the forgiveness that all golfers need.

Two years ago, Ping introduced i20 – a full line of equipment including stylish yet playable irons and woods designed to offer unobtrusive looks and minimal distraction to the better player.

Following on from the success of that range – especially the irons – comes i25, which, romantically, will be in the shops on February 14.

Given the popularity of the i20 irons, it is perhaps unsurprising that the most obvious innovations and improvements have come in the woods. The driver and fairways promise to be more playable than their predecessors while the hybrids have been re-engineered to offer greater control and workability.

The driver and fairways are adjustable (plus or minus 0.5˚) and feature what Ping describe as “subtle racing stripes” on the crown that frame the ball at address.

“The same width as a golf ball, the stripes offer a visual cue (consciously or sub-consciously) that can lead to multiple benefits,” said the company. “They can help the player aim the club face accurately, align one’s body to the target, and assist in taking the club back on the proper path.”

In the drivers, fairways and hybrids, Ping’s industry-first PWR shaft family offers unique weights and stiffness profiles without altering swingweight.

What this means is that you can try shafts of different weights in the same flex, allowing you to find the feel that you are looking for. You might be surprised to learn through experimentation that, for example, a lighter driver shaft but more weight in the fairway wood shaft works best for you.

“With adjustable clubs, fitting for shaft weight has been limited because of its effect on swingweight,” said John Solheim, Ping’s chairman and CEO. “The PWR Series overcomes that by varying the CG location of the different weights so we can offer options that optimize ball flight while providing a better-feeling, more-responsive shaft.”

The hybrids are also dramatically improved, with less bulge and roll on the face giving them more of the looks and performance of a driving iron.

The i25 irons are even more powerful than their predecessors and offer an extremely appealing blend of forgiveness and finesse.
