The dreaded S-word! Justin Rose shanks shot out of bounds at The Open
Justin Rose hit a shot many club golfers can relate to on the 3rd hole at Hoylake, as his ball exploded from the hosel and out of bounds
Justin Rose inexplicably shanked his approach shot to the 3rd hole of the second round at The Open.
After finding the fairway bunker on the 2nd hole on Friday and making a bogey, Rose found the short grass on the dogleg par-4 at Hoylake.
Perhaps a chance to pull a shot back? This wasn’t the case.
With the internal out-of-bounds streaming down the right side, the former US Open champion shanked his approach shot and his club flew from his grasp.
His ball didn’t just land out of bounds, it went further wide of the fans stood by the rails, and even the grandstand.
Despite this hole only requiring an iron from the tee and to the green, Rose’s mishap exposed the danger of what is played as the 1st hole by Royal Liverpool’s members.
Rose salvaged a bogey with a pinpoint second shot into the green, playing alongside Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
